Mike Rogers putting Abdul El-Sayed’s donor list on the table is the security question the amnesty pitch skipped. Millions from people who support the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, and Al-Qaeda is not a diverse coalition. It is a clearance problem. A Senate candidate who will not condemn the Revolutionary Guard and wants every illegal legalized now has a bankroll that matches the hesitation. Rogers exposed the match. Trust is the part that does not survive it.

A security clearance is a judgment about foreign influence, not a courtesy for anyone who files papers. El-Sayed’s Egypt line, his silence on the Guard, and this money are the same biography read three ways. Voters do not need a classified briefing to see why the badge should be withheld. Hamas and Al-Qaeda are not interest groups. The Brotherhood is not a charity with a branding issue. Taking millions from their sympathizers is the fact. The fact is disqualifying.

Michigan can treat the exposure as the ad. Rogers did the useful part. He named the streams. El-Sayed can return the money and condemn the organizations, or he can explain why a man with that ledger belongs near a classified briefing. He will not clear the explanation. A senator votes on wars, visas, and the agencies that watch these networks. The networks’ friends already voted with the checks. Do not hand them the seat. Clearance denied is the correct headline. The millions are the reason.
