Do you love to sing? Are you looking to make lifelong friends you can make music with? If yes, you should audition for a cappella!💜💛🎶

This fall, we're hosting hybrid auditions! In-person auditions will take place on Saturday, September 5th at 10AM and Sunday, September 6th at 11AM, both days in Union Warren 256 (located near the mailroom). This is where you'll be able to sign up for audition time slots with as many groups as you'd like! You only have to show up to one day of auditions, so choose whichever day that works best for you. Come prepared with either a verse & chorus or a bridge & chorus of a song that shows off your voice, and if you can beatbox, prepare to show that off as well!🎙‼️

If in-person auditions do not work for you, virtual auditions will also be accessible through the Linktree in our bio. Virtual auditions will open on Sunday, August 30th, and we will be accepting auditions until no later than 11:59pm on Saturday, September 5th. We can't wait to hear your voices!💫🎤

If you have any questions about auditions or any of our 10 groups, feel free to DM us or email acappellajmu@gmail.com! More information can also be fo found on the JMU A Cappella website, also found in the Linktree in our bio!🎼

Boston, New York, Maryland, DC, a random lake house, Beauty and the Beast, Pippin, Salvajes, and special moments all around.

SEMESTER RECAP!!! This one was ALOT.

First of all, SO much travel happened! Seeing new parts of the world has become one of my favorite hobbies!

SO MANY OPPORTUNITIES🙌🏽 thank you Lord for all the opportunities that came my way this semester. I was able to work on 3 different projects!???
- Pippin at Forbes Performing Arts Center
- Salvajes at Montgomery Culture Arts Center
- Beauty and the Beast Ballet at Stanton academy of
Ballet

My classes STRETCHED ME! Shout out to Auditioning with Kate! Ever since that class I have done some real questioning and self reflection of why I want to be a performer and what it’s gonna take to get to where I want to be.

It’s okay to say NO!!! This was probably the most stressful semesters of my time here at JMU and that’s partly because I struggle with letting people down, but as I’m getting wiser I’ve realized that you will always let someone down. I’ve tried to be perfect for every person in my life and it’s slowly taking a toll on me. So this next year I will be more intentional with my yes.

I also got super sick this semester which was really hard but it almost feels like it happened out of necessity for me to slow down. It also made me realize that I genuinely have the best friends around me. Thank you to my roommates who took care of me with grace. Especially Lexi who took me to the hospital in the middle of the night TWICE!! And thank you Brandon for taking care of me the second time I got sick haha. I love you guys so much❤️

This sem I also was in callbacks for my FIRST NATIONAL TOUR!!! Though I didn’t end up getting the job it was such a cool learning experience and networking opportunity! When I went to NY in January I literally claimed that I was gonna be I callbacks for something this year, I just had a feeling and BOOM it happened!

Lastly, IM GOING TO SPAIN!!! In like 4 days I’ll be flying for the first time ever and international at that. I’m so blessed to have been awarded scholarships that’s gonna cover my whole trip!

This was a semester of growth and perseverance for sure!

We’re celebrating 30 incredible years of JMU A Cappella!!! 💜🎶💛

Our community began with the formation of @themadisonproject in 1996, who brought a cappella music to the JMU campus. Since then, nine groups have followed, and we stand today as a loving and talented group of singers expressing ourselves through music.

A very happy 30 years to our community, and onto many more!
