💬 “It was better to stay silent than to humiliate myself anymore.”

Firstly Thank you @librofm and the author for the ALC of this book. Please note this gift has not affected the way in which I have reviewed this book.

#TattooHeartist by @authorskangel is book one in the Broken Dolls: A Sister Duet.

This was my first time reading this author. It’s been an enjoyable, although Tristan Locke and Ingrid Rodriguez have so many demons to face that my heart hurt for them.

Both are fighting to keep their heads above water while trying to find something real in each other. Their lives are filled with trauma and painful experiences, and there are plenty of triggers throughout their journey, so this is one to approach with care.

What I appreciated was seeing two people carrying so much pain trying to find their way towards love while dealing with everything life has thrown at them. Their story has some heavy emotional moments.

The duet narration by Juniper Reyes and Duncan Cole helped bring their struggles, vulnerability and connection to life. This was an engaging first experience with S.K. Angel, and I’m curious to see where the duet goes next.

This book reminds me that we never truly know the battles someone is fighting beneath the surface. Sometimes, finding someone who sees our pain and stands beside us can give us the courage to keep going, even when life feels overwhelming. Healing takes time, and everyone deserves the chance to find love, hope and a little peace along the way.

💬 “With everyone else, I was brutal. A man made of sharp edges, and uncontrolled anger. But with her, I couldn’t do it. There was something about her that made me want to be a shield.”

Well having dived right in to the audio after just finishing the ARC read was epic. It was so good living the book in audio and the emotions put into voicing these characters. Joe never misses a beat wth his explosive performance with the characters. I mean he plays the creepy psychotic Konstatine so well and he really brings him to life bloody hell. He switched between characters flawlessly and I was engrossed the whole time. Then we have Juniper who played her part so well voicing Leandra and all the emotion she gave her brought her character to life you lived the trauma with her. I have never loved a character more than Leandra the justice she hit herself near the end was epic. Loved the whole experience.

Audiobook Review:

Leandra and Lazarus do not have a straightforward romance or journey to be together. It is full of deceit, sacrifice, and blood will be spilled. Yet, the bond that these two share with each other is strong.

First off, this book is categorized as erotic horror not dark romance. There is a big difference between these two genres. While there is a HEA, most erotic horrors do not have a HEA. Also with this genre, I would say the stories are pitch black vs. morally grey. So, if you are not ready for dark, dark reads that do include gore, then I would stay away from this book but if you don't really have triggers, by all means jump right into this book.

May I recommend though that if you are an audiobook fan that you grab the ALC. Performed in duet by Juniper Reyes & Joe Arden. Yes, you read this right. The ALC has Joe narrating.

Decimation is the final audiobook in Ellie Sanders’ erotic horror series, The Brethren Lords. First and foremost, check those triggers (of which there are many) before diving in to this very, very dark, captive romance. But if pitch black is your thing, this audio is definitely for you! I’m not going to touch on the plot much, because I don’t want to take the chance of spoiling anything. If you’ve read or listened to the earlier books in the series, you’ve heard pieces of what happens in this finale. But even if you know the “what,” it’s the “how” and the “why” that really tells the story. And Lordy, can Ellie Sanders tell a story! The plot is crazy twisted just like we lovers of this genre enjoy. The characters are high intensity and over-the-top in pretty much everything they do, but occasionally they let us see a glimpse of their heart (even if it’s mostly black). And the dialogue is so emotional and raw, that you can’t help but experience it right along with the characters.

Add in the insanely-good, duet-style narration from Juniper Reyes and Joe Arden, and you certainly feel as if you’re right in the middle of the action. Juniper Reyes is a new voice for me, but she absolutely nailed all the female characters, especially Leandra. This character ran the spectrum of emotions, and she truly made me feel every one of them. She made everything Leandra went through seem very real. Now, we all know how well Joe Arden can voice an unhinged character, but his portrayal of Lazarus is beyond unhinged. He gets you right into the character’s head. And hearing Joe portray this man who is physically and psychologically tortured—voicing his every thought—as Lazarus desperately tries to hold on to some semblance of himself and his sanity while being systematically unmade is an absolutely visceral experience. I honestly think this is one of Joe’s best performances to date, and that’s truly saying something with his career. So, if you enjoy erotic horror and/or pitch black, captive romances, this audio will 100% blow your mind! Strap in, folks, because it WILL get bumpy!

This is pitch-black erotic horror, and @elliesandersauthor is absolutely not here to hold your hand. Check your triggers and PLEASE read responsibly. If erotic horror is NOT for you that is ok. Catch me on the next one.

The story is disturbing, brutal, psychologically twisted, and somehow manages to keep getting darker when you’re already convinced there is nowhere left to go.

Let’s talk about the audio because @thejuniperreyes and @therealjoearden understood the assignment.

Juniper brought so much vulnerability and emotional intensity to Leandra that I could feel the psychological unraveling…the horrors of her reality. On the other side when she is Ines 🤬…she goes between the two so easily.

And Joe? That man has a particular talent for making an unhinged MMC sound even more terrifying because of how damn calm he can be about the things coming out of his mouth. 😳

He was an unwell, unraveling man in Konstantine, but I was over here rooting for and falling in love with Lazarus. Sir, what the actual fuck?

Their performances made an already disturbing story feel even more immersive. There were moments when I genuinely wanted to pause the audiobook, stare into the void for a minute, and reconsider my life choices. And naturally, I kept listening. 😂

If you’re looking for morally gray, you are in the WRONG neighborhood. We have sprinted past gray and are in the darkest corner of hell.

This is not a fluffy dark romance with a few questionable moments. This is erotic horror wearing a romance-shaped trench coat. Proceed accordingly.

⚠️PITCH BLACK⚠️

Author Ellie Sanders

Decimation is the fifth book in The Brethren Lords series. Please be aware of the extremely dark themes in this book. Leandra and Lazarus both experience total decimation. This is an extremely dark psychological thriller. There were moments I questioned my sanity while listening. However, I was hooked from the very beginning.

Juniper Reyes and Joe Arden did an absolutely phenomenal job narrating this book in duet style narration.
