We’re making @joshua.okrent the face here even though he told Dean in his interview in HEQ #20 — which is in the mail, shop & at the @punkrockfleamarketseattle today — that he doesn’t want to be the physical manifestation of the grand idea of $1 entry DIY goods exchange. We have @crispyham wrapping this issue in a texture that perfectly suits the atmospheric river we’re afloat in. We have poetry galore including a sneak peak at Feb @hexenductionbooks release FACING DEATH by @ruben4real. Plus @samurkhouja @thekatyball @sashasarene Matt Wise & me (@terdledove). It’s a bumper crop of favs and regulars so feast away on its recipes (Suzie Strait & Aaron Schroeder) and scattered life shots @jensen24tjhung, Yellow Green Red music listening newsletter origins with @mattkorvette & more more more more more till the tiniest wafer explodes you like New Year’s fireworks over the space needle. Subscribe at our Big Cartel and ponder next issue’s theme, ingeniously provided by future contributor @theedouglasmartini : Art on an Artist’s Own Terms.

I’ve now lived outside NYC longer than I lived there. It’s a grander, more thrilling place with that distance.

Feeling grateful for dear friends, public art, the restaurants of Queens, @pilylondonoa, and the fine work of the city’s Rat Czar. 🐀 👑

(Also: 8th photo is the original cast of Winnie the Pooh.)

Our last full day in Paris before heading to Burgundy felt endless in the best way.

We were at the Garnier Opera at opening to wander through its intricate schmaltz before exploring the nearby Museè du Parfum, also dense with information and treasures. (A cabinet of curiosities complete with stuffed civet, enfluerage how-to, and centuries of perfume bottle design!)

Next, took the metro to picturesque Montmarte and Sacre Coeur before nipping back to our 11 arrondissement hotel before an amazing seafood dinner at @surmer.paris. Bar crawled back home along Canal St Martin way too late meeting some colorful characters.
