Double the blessings -today is World Migratory Day @environmentamericas & World Mental Health Day @mentalhealthamerica

and what a way to honor both
Many thanks to the incredible @uccalnat team for inviting me to contribute to the UC Stewards Statewide Conference 2026!
It was so inspiring to be among fellow naturalists and stewards from all over California
(I highly recommend the course)

Rocco and I are feeling the West pulling at our hair again. Those familiar ghosts and haunts are like sirens in the dark. Ready to wrap myself in Diné weavings. Ready for the color palette of the desert. Ready for the enormity of the scenery. The solitude. Ready for the road…. #curateyourlife #wearwhatyoulove #southwesternstyle #newmexico #santafe #alamogordo #marfa #nativeamericanjewelry P.S. check out @samr.watts for some really incredible art pieces that are up for grabs!

Madras madness! The British East India Company encountered the local handwoven cotton textiles in Madras, which became known as Madras fabric. The fabric is known for its vibrant colors and distinct plaid patterns. It gained popularity across Europe in the 19th century. The shirt and shorts I have on are both vintage @poloralphlauren They keep the tradition alive and current. Their current Madras collection inspired me to pull out some of my vintage pieces. Blue has been the theme of my week. I love the bits of bandana print in these patchwork pieces! Skies and Oceans. Calming. Deep. Indigos & turquoise. Dreamy. #curateyourlife #wearwhatyoulove #southwesternstyle #madras #ralphlaurenstyle #poloralphlauren #menswear #mensstyle #turquoise #nativeamericanjewelry #zuni #navajo

Outfit of the day: @rockmountranchwear bolero jacket that I got from @communitiemarfa paired with my brown rabbit hat, Glory, in collaboration with @thecajunhatter. This hat is adorned with turquoise dyed alligator skin. A turquoise and coral beaded band. Feathers from a magpie that I found in Taos. A Zuni sunface from @thekestrelplain. A Zuni thunderbird pin from @shiwijewelry I got in Santa Fe. Tack pins I got in Gallup from @richardsonstrading. And feathers from my friend @wvguerin macaw, Mr Chips. It takes a village to put together a hat like this. Miles and miles of travel and hunting and finding. It is an amalgamation of love and happiness. Glory looks like a desert relic, because essentially that’s what he is. Gobs of turquoise jewelry are essential. And my vintage tooled leather bag that I got from @jamphoto in Marfa. I love that this look is a complete circle for me. Born in the swamp of Louisiana. Assembled throughout my trips to Marfa and New Mexico. Photographed on a rainy Friday afternoon in Lafayette. I’m grateful for all the pieces. Grateful for how it all comes together. #curateyourlife #wearwhatyoulove #southwesternstyle #nativeamericanjewelry #zuni #navajo #turquoise #turquoisejewelry #desertvibes #vintagestyle #marfa #newmexico #louisiana #uniquestyle #outfitoftheday

We move through the seasons of life in search of things. Sometimes momentarily landing on distractions. Things that take us out of our increasingly cerebral lives. Sometimes we need to focus on simple things. Like lighting. Textures. Angles. My love of photography always reignites in Marfa. The way the Light of the Creator dances across every surface is inspiring to me. I try to capture some of it. Maybe I’m an artist whose real work is myself. I am my own art. There’s an art to being me. I capture selfies that personify my moods. Outfits, jewelry, backgrounds that make it all come together for me. #curateyourlife #wearwhatyoulove #southwesternstyle #nativeamericanjewelry #zuni #navajo #turquoise #serape #saltillo #desertvibes #colorpalette #marfa #marfatexas #photography #inspiration P.S. my jacket, shirt and shorts are all available at @elcosmicomarfa !

A year ago this month, I set out for Marfa. A town I’d discovered nearly a decade prior for myself. It is always a pilgrimage for me. A scared place that calls me back, thankfully, time and time again. I had the distinct pleasure of babysitting @thekestrelplain for two friends. Funny thing is that we didn’t know each other well yet. So it was an exercise in trust. I set up residence in their shop for the summer. I got to experience Marfa’s quirky retail market in real time. I got to experience the ebb and flow. The changing of energies. I got to chase monsoonal storms. Got to know Marfa and her winds. I got to connect with friends I’d made throughout the years and get to know a few new ones. I fell in love with this Navajo weaving. Her organically dyed wool. Especially the cochineal (red). Her pattern of crosses. Her texture. The wear and tear that showed how loved she’d been. Months later, my friends came to visit me in Louisiana, and now the weaving hangs on the wall of my bedroom hallway. A beautiful reminder of how instrumental last summer was in the journey of my life. How full of lessons Marfa is. One of the most important being that we may not be able to control what happens around us, but we can certainly control how we react. I look very forward to my return to the desert later this month. Grateful for Marfa. Grateful for everyone I know out there. Grateful for my enduring connection with @samr.watts ! Grateful for all that I have and everything I’ve been through since I first stepped foot on Marfa soil nearly a decade ago! #curateyourlife #wearwhatyoulove #southwesternstyle #nativeamericanstyle #navajoweaving #cochineal #nativeamericanartists #cruces #marfa #marfatexas #farwesttexas #desertvibes #gratitude #lifelessons #friendship

Today’s hue is brown. Like desert dust. A rich, burnt, golden brown. With the energy of the earth and sun. Perfectly captured in this suede shirt by @poloralphlauren . Handmade silver and turquoise button covers with exquisite stamp work and reposse. Complimented by the oceanic energy of turquoise. In sharp contrast with the fiery energy of the Mediterranean coral. Zuni energy. Navajo protection. For me, the language of the universe. Colors ignite my imagination. Set moods into motion. They protect, comfort, inform me. I’ve learned to be intentional with them. To convey a message with them. My hat, Glory, was a fantastic lesson in colors coming to life. I’m grateful to get the messages. Grateful for the health and wellbeing. Grateful to get to wear these special pieces and share their inspiration. #curateyourlife #wearwhatyoulove #southwesternstyle #poloralphlauren #ralphlaurenstyle #nativeamericanjewelry #zuni #navajo #sterlingsilver #turquoisejewelry #turquoise #westernwednesday #desertenergy #mediterraneancoral #spinyoyster

Winter is my season. I enjoy the crisp cold. I enjoy layers. Textiles. Prints. Patterns. Cloaks. Wraps. Ponchos. Hats. Scarves. All of it. I love blending colors and patterns. Building a story with my wardrobe. I think style is so personal. It shifts. Evolves. Grows. To me, clothing is not just items hanging in my closet. I don’t collect just to have. I try to choose pieces with intention. I love vintage. Mixing high end with lower end. Cultivating an aesthetic that helps tell how I feel. Through clothing and jewelry I express my spirit. I think everyone should. #curateyourlife #wearwhatyoulove #southwesternstyle #ralphlaurenstyle #nativeamericanjewelry #zuni #navajo #turquoise #turquoisejewelry #mensstyle #style #winter #wrap #customhats #fashionfiles #sustainablefashion #vintagestyle
