Between open mic nights at Executive Surf Club, sets at The Artisan and the slow climb from Brewster Street’s inside stage to the Hilliard Center, Corpus Christi’s music scene focuses on developing artists and helping them hone their craft.

“Your current favorite artist might not play here,” says Marisol Ramirez, assistant general manager at Brewster and Concrete Street. “But your next favorite artist is playing our stages right now.”

It’s not a competition between venues; it’s an ecosystem. Downtown, a new generation of DJs is finding the same kind of home at Produce Bar Co., with Latin Grammy-nominee El Dusty opening doors for anyone willing to learn.

Walk a few blocks on any given weekend and you’ll find a DJ set, a mosh pit, dinner with live music or a touring act under the amphitheater lights. It’s this density and generosity that earned Corpus Christi its Music Friendly City designation from the Texas Music Office in 2023.
