3 BRIDAL MAKEUP MISTAKES TO AVOID

Your wedding makeup should still feel like you — just the most confident version of you.

Here are 3 mistakes I see brides make that are easily avoided:

1. Trying something completely new on your wedding day.

Your wedding day probably isn’t the time to suddenly decide you want a completely different makeup look.

If you don’t normally wear much makeup, or you love a fresh, natural look, you don’t need to transform your whole style for your wedding.

Your makeup can be more polished and defined while still feeling natural and like you.

2. Neglecting your skincare

Beautiful bridal makeup starts long before I pick up a brush.

Dry, dehydrated or over-exfoliated skin can make makeup sit differently and can affect how your finished look photographs.

Don’t suddenly up your skincare routine a couple of weeks before your wedding. Your skin needs time to adjust, so ideally start looking after it well in advance. Get to know your skin and give it what it needs.

And don’t forget the basics — drink plenty of water, keep yourself hydrated every day.

3. Thinking natural makeup means less makeup

Natural-looking makeup doesn’t necessarily mean using less makeup.

Sometimes, if the skin is in really good condition, you may only need a little concealer, some bronzer and a few carefully placed products. Other times, more coverage or more product is needed to create the right finish and longevity.

It’s about knowing what the skin needs, where the product is needed and how to apply it so that it still looks natural.

Your makeup needs to look beautiful in person, photograph beautifully and stay put through happy tears, hugs, dancing and a long wedding day.

The trick is using the right products and techniques in the right places, so your skin still looks like skin, but your makeup has the longevity you need.

My goal is always fresh, natural makeup that still feels like you, and without feeling like you’re wearing a mask.

Save this for your wedding planning.

That just-married feeling, the biggest smile and makeup that stays put all day.

Quality skincare, products and techniques make all the difference — especially when there are happy tears involved.
