THE DISTRACTION IS THE POINT. BUT THE PEOPLE ARE PAYING THE PRICE.

While public conversations are consumed by personalities, political outrage, and ideological battles, there are real issues affecting the everyday lives of people that deserve our attention.

Wage theft. Price gouging. Economic inequality. The rising cost of simply existing.

These issues are not exclusive to Democrats or Republicans. They affect families, workers, small businesses, and communities across political, racial, and religious lines.

At FFDC, we believe civic education requires us to look beyond the noise and examine the systems, policies, and decisions shaping our collective reality.

Because political awareness without accountability changes very little.

We must ask better questions. Who benefits from our division? What policies are being advanced while our attention is elsewhere? And how do we move from reacting to headlines to organizing around solutions?

We don’t have to agree on everything to recognize that our communities deserve better.

Civic education is not about telling people what to think. It’s about equipping people to think critically, question power, and participate meaningfully.

Philip Anthony Mitchell, please stop insulting our intelligence. You specifically referenced Muslims supposedly taking over Dearborn, Michigan, then contrasted Republican-controlled Texas and Florida with Democratic-led New York and Pennsylvania, suggesting that states governed by Republicans were strongholds of godliness and those governed by Democrats are places where ungodliness was expected.

You clearly suggested that God’s true church exists where Republicans are in control, yet you want us to believe your comments were strictly spiritual and had nothing to do with politics. Come on, man.

You invoked religious fear, drew distinctions along political lines, and wrapped the whole thing in spiritual warfare language. Calling it an exhortation to your praise and worship team doesn’t magically erase what you said. And blaming a videographer for making your own words public doesn’t explain your words.

You said context matters. Fine. Then explain why Republican-governed states were presented as places where evil would be surprising, while Democratic-governed states were treated as places where it should be expected.

That’s the question your lengthy explanation conveniently avoided.
