Over 13 years ago I was a student at this place. Fast forward 11 years and I’m working here in the same role of the incredible men I looked up to as a kid. Last week on Friday I had my last official day. Closing a chapter of my life that I built over 7 years worth of work within the Maitland community.

Teaching our kids how to navigate both worlds of cultural and western. Teaching them the real values of community and where the strength in community really lies - within us. Reminding them that they stand on the shoulders of their ancestors and that they are worthy of all the good things in life just as much as anyone else. And most importantly making sure they have someone that looks, speaks and acts like them, advocating for them and supporting them academically and culturally.

Nothing will ever compare to this place and the young people in it. I’m a better man because I’ve had the privilege of working with these young people and the teams I’ve been a part of. It has been the biggest honour and the highlight of my career so far.

Forever grateful 🖤🌀👣
