Bangladesh have wrapped up a mightily impressive 3-0 ODI series whitewash against Zimbabwe after beating the visitors by 123 runs via DL/S in the final game of the series in Sylhet! The Zimbabweans won the toss and elected to have a bowl first in this 43 over per-side contest, a decision which backfired in absolutely tremendous fashion as the imperious Bangladeshi opening duo of Litton Das (176) and Tamim Iqbal (128*) lit up the Sylhet International Stadium with an unrelenting flurry of fours and sixes on their way to producing a record-breaking 292 run partnership which propelled the Tigers up to a mammoth score of 292/0 within the first 41 overs of their innings. Unfortunately this truly magnificent opening run partnership was brought to a rather abrupt halt at the very end of the 41st over when the destructive Das was dismissed by promising young seamer Carl Mumba (3/69) but in truth, this minor setback had very little impact on the overall outcome of the Bangladeshi innings as the ever reliable Iqbal ultimately took the ruthless Tigers up to a mammoth total of 322/3 by the end of their 43 overs. In response to this incredible batting display from the series hosts, the Zimbabweans got off to a rather poor start to their run chase as the clinical Bangladeshi bowling attack, spearheaded by seamer Mohammad Saiffudin (4/41), quickly reduced the vulnerable Chevrons to a rather perilous score of 113/4 within the first 22 overs of their innings. To their credit, the classy Zimbabwean middle order duo of Wes Madhevere (42) and Sikandar Raza (61) did give the Chevrons some hope of winning this contest with their battling respective knocks but rather unsurprisingly, these spirited efforts came in vain for the visitors today as they were ultimately bowled out for a somewhat disappointing total of 218 runs in just the 38th over of their innings. As always, well played to both sides out there today and congratulations to Bangladesh for wrapping up the whitewash 👏
