Hello, fellow book lovers! This will be my first review! Tell me your thoughts on this book if you’ve read it!
It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
💭 I didn’t start this book without any context, it has been recommended to me and I knew I’d feel strongly emotional about the plot. I have not checked any trigger warnings as I already knew the gist, but I very much suggest doing so!
Objectively, I adored the visible character development Lily Bloom, the main character, went through. You get to see her present through the first-person narrative. She starts of as a 23-year old, living in Boston. Glimpses of her past are shown in letters she wrote when she was fifteen. The general views are her first love at the age of fifteen and the love she finds in Boston at the age of twenty-three. As the daughter to an abusive father, she saw her mother suffer a lot. The journey and the plot itself circle Lily coping with experiencing it from the outside and then, when she starts following her dreams and building her own life in Boston, experiencing it from the inside.
This book is based on a real story with Colleen Hoover’s mother as a starting point, which made the entire topic hit closer to home than it already did on its own for me.
As I have never read CoHo books before, this was a great start and I’m hooked to read more!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: Contemporary Romance
[by ‘not a romance’ i mean that romance isn’t the focus, lily and her development should be]
