Question extravagant church spending, and you may be compared to Judas.
Some pastors use the alabaster jar to justify millions spent on buildings, lights, and production. But Jesus wasn’t defending a religious business model. He was preparing for BURIAL.
And when Jesus said, “The poor you have with you always,” He was referencing Deuteronomy 15:11, which COMMANDS us to open our hands wide to the poor!
Scripture must interpret Scripture. Not justify our institutions.
Are we following Jesus, or using His words to defend what we’ve built?

When did the Church become the middleman between you and your generosity?
Jesus commanded us to care for the poor, feed the hungry, and love our neighbors. He never commanded us to build million and billion dollar religious institutions to do it. Yet we’ve turned a tradition of men into a financial obligation from God.
It’s time to question the model, demand transparency, and rethink what it means to be the Body of Christ. If a modern institutional church asks for your money, you should know where it goes.

Church of Eleven22, with over 200 employees, took out a $9M loan to purchase a waterfront 3,217 acre retreat property. Now we’ve uncovered a new build for a roughly 5,000sq ft, 9 bedroom waterfront “Staff House” with an estimated cost of $589,820.
One kitchen. A fireplace. A grill. Prime waterfront real estate. All while the congregation funds the ministry. Does the congregation know about this new build, because most didn’t know about the $9M loan to purchase the property.

Religious liberty protects your right to follow Christ. It does not make the government the vehicle for advancing His Kingdom. America is not Israel.
The Pentagon is not the Body of Christ.

FAITHFULNESS DOESN’T EQUAL FINANCIAL PROSPERITY.
Under the Old Covenant, Israel was promised barns, crops and national prosperity. Then Jesus says: deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Me.
The apostles weren’t lacking faith when they suffered. Sometimes faithfulness costs you everything. So why do we measure God’s blessing by bank accounts, or church “success” by buildings, campuses and crowds?
Jesus said: Don’t store up treasures on earth. Store up treasures in heaven.
The greatest New Covenant blessing isn’t comfort.
It’s Christ, and an inheritance death itself cannot take away.

Season 02 is about moving from exposure to action.
We’re starting at one of the darkest places institutional religion has too often failed: child sexual abuse.
But the Church doesn’t have to remain part of the problem. The Body of Christ can become part of the solution.
We already have the people.
We already have the resources.
Now we need transparency, accountability, and a total rethink of the institutional model.
Change the person. Change the church. Transform the community.

Church leadership is not monarchy.
When surveillance expands, dissent gets deleted, image is curated, and leadership says, “We are here to govern, not pastor,” the question becomes simple: what are you actually building in the name of Christ?
Jesus said, “The rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them… Yet it shall not be so among you.” — Matthew 20:25–26
Christ did not model His Church after kings, governments, or systems of control. He modeled servant leadership, truth, and freedom from the inside out.
So when “safety” becomes surveillance, “accountability” becomes control, and disagreement becomes something to silence, we should pay attention.
“Yet it shall not be so among you.”
That is the standard.

“God’s House” isn’t a building.

Under the New Covenant, you are the temple. We are the Church.

So when Old Covenant temple language is used to raise millions for stages, lights, campuses, and elaborate facilities, we should be willing to ask:

Did Jesus finish the old system—or are we rebuilding it because it’s profitable?

Buildings can serve people. But buildings are not sacred.

Feed people. Care for widows and orphans. Gather. Worship. Teach Scripture.

Just don’t build monuments to ourselves and call them God’s House.

The pastor preaches against mass surveillance.
His church reportedly uses 400+ AI tracking cameras on one campus.
Josh Howerton’s podcast is called “Live Free.” He warns about institutions becoming obsessed with surveillance and control. The Blaze has criticized systems that can track people anywhere without transparency or accountability.
So the issue isn’t church security. It’s this:
Who decides who the “bad actors” are? Who controls the feeds? Who defines “compliance”?
If mass surveillance is dangerous when government does it, why is it acceptable inside a megachurch?

The movement isn’t about losing faith. It’s about stripping away the commandments of men and returning to what is of God. If leadership won’t walk in transparency, ask hard questions, find a healthier church, or build something smaller and truer.
The refiner’s fire is a beautiful thing. What burns off is manmade religion. What remains is faith.
Season 02 is coming. We’re just getting started.

Did Jesus command Christians to tithe 10%? The New Testament teaches Christians to give, Paul says: “Not grudgingly or of necessity.” Give freely. Give sacrificially. Give joyfully. Give to those in need. But be very careful when someone uses God to pressure people into funding an institution.
