I’m an advocate, are you?
Last merch drop of the year: fridge magnet & matte button.
I also have the first swag of 2026 but won’t reveal for another 2 weeks (and it’s the sort that you’ll need to visit OBL in order to receive.)

I’ve been steadily blazing ahead with a highly-niche passion project embellishing beachcombed marine buoys (for home bar decor) which I’m slowly building into a side business.
These began as gifts for fellow home tiki bar owning friends (and one now even hangs within an office at Pixar.)
The last of my ‘proof of concept’ pieces were distributed last week so now here’s a spoiler-free overview of the first five.
Well, basically @thelostgrotto and @pelesescape received theirs first back in 2022. Then, fast-forward to just a month ago through last week and buoys were presented to @southseasalvageandtrade @the_krakenslair and @bradbudokan.
I’d additionally produced a quartet for selling in Sacramento last month with mixed results due to booth visibility issues.
No plans yet to offer online this year but I’ll be selling in person at the @dr.funksj tiki bazaar in San Jose on Sunday, November 16th along with 20 other vendors -should be a hoot!
The goal is to have a solid dozen or so for my booth along with my usual inventory of aloha wear, vinyl, mugs, custom swag and poly-whathaveyou.

Hit the Cove earlier this week along w/Trader M (who knocked a bunch of @holmescay pours off his list) before we caught Superchunk over at @theindependentsf and savored that sonic nostalgia.
Though I’d seen the band live 3 times in the ‘90s, it’s really sobering to consider that it’s been A Quarter Of A Century since last catching them!
😬
1st slide: pregame octane w/Sidewinder’s Fang
5th slide: 3 strata of friends (w/varying results)

A fine turnout of familiar ohana (and a few fresh faces) for the Kimo’s ‘takeover’ of @pelesescape last night.
We celebrated the visitation of @brig_bullymama_tiki_bartender & @bully_and_gecko_bartender over from da Big Island of Hawai’i.
Beyond these bridge portraits, the night was a blissful collage of rum, amazing food and laughs that continued into the wee hours and even on a smaller scale over a late breakfast.
Mahalo to our hosts and everyone up to the task of upholding the aloha pageantry (everyone looked fabulous) and robust imbibement without recklessness.

This is the @tradersams Skipper’s Adventure mug by @mookiesato. @mrsnickoloff told me the other night that when she heard the official drink for this mug was going to be the Schweitzer Falls, she knew we needed to have this one for Milo. Story time…

We love Disneyland, anyone who knows us knows this. We’ve spent so much time at the parks as a family, making memories and soaking up the adventure. One of our staples has always been Trader Sam’s. Many a day would include lunch or dinner at Sam’s, followed by more park adventures, and ending with mom and dad popping into Sam’s after a long day at the park. The boys loved Schweitzer Falls so much, but Milo loved them the most. He would always ask us to bring one back to the room for him and Henry would chime in “me too!” Over time, the Skippers caught on to this. We’d close down the bar, and order Schweitzers to go for the boys.

So here we are, closing out our annual Halloween / Oogie Boogie trip with a pool day, and of course a Schweitzer to go for Milo in a mug that will forever known from this day forward as “Milo’s Skipper Mug.”

The Skippers and crew at Sam’s have been so wonderful to our little Ohana throughout the years, and 2024 has been particularly tough for us, as well as the Trader Sam’s family…

Thank you, Melissa…thank you, Skippers, and thank you, Trader Sam’s. We’ll see you again soon. 💚🤎💚🤎💚🤎

— notes —
• this mug is green, Milo’s favorite color
• it features Schweitzer Falls, an elephant (Milo called them “elphanots” as a child, a monkey (we called him our little monkey), and a boy climbing a tree (Milo never missed an opportunity to climb trees)

Dear friends — There will be a live stream of Milo’s celebration today, but please know the following:

1. It will be on my YouTube channel
2. You should not click on non-YouTube links advertising a live stream unless it comes from one of the members of the family
3. You can find my YT channel link in my bio
4. There is another Facebook account using Milo’s images and public information to try and get people to sign up for a service they do not need.

WE ARE SO UPSET THAT SOMEONE IS WILLING TO STOOP SO LOW AS TO USE OUR SON AS A MEANS TO BOOST REGISTRATIONS FOR THEIR SHITTY SCAM.

Deep breath...

The stream will be live once we arrive at the theater. Please share this with others so they know the details.

Thank you.

[PLEASE READ] First and foremost, if you are planning to attend thank you in advance for joining us on Friday to celebrate our extraordinary boy. We wanted to pass along some details about the celebration. All of this info has been updated in the “Info for Attendees” section on milowasmeantforthestage.com.

The celebration will be held at the Crocker Theater at Cabrillo College. Here is the address:

6500 Lower Perimeter Road, Aptos, CA 95003

We are aiming to open doors at 1:30pm. We are hoping to start the celebration at 2pm.

Please anticipate traffic on Friday – the current estimated travel time from Scotts Valley is about 32 minutes, but it might be best to plan to arrive early if possible.

Once you arrive, please visit the box office to get a ticket. The event is free and open to all but in order to track capacity all guests must have a ticket. As an added bonus, your ticket is like a souvenir and makes the celebration really feel like a professional performance for Milo ❤️ (which we feel like he’d really love).

Thank you so much,
— The Animas

The loss of Milo has been devastating, but the outpouring of support and love our family has received has been absolutely overwhelming. It often feels like Milo is still looking out for us through the outreach from people he impacted along the way.

Some have asked, “What can we do to help?” We have been blessed to have Margaret, Clare, and Janna set up a fund for Milo through the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz offering anyone who feels compelled to help out a means to do so through donations to The Milo Anima Legacy Fund (which are tax deductible).

Each donation will help us continue Milo’s legacy. He believed in helping others, and he found value and inspiration in theater, art, performance, and music. He was adamant about helping keep those opportunities open and accessible to others. He used his art to bring joy and inspiration to others, and we can help continue that into the future.

Our family has always believed in acts of service – we are a collective of “helpers” and Milo was no different. He was passionate about advocacy, representation, inclusion and awareness. He volunteered through the QYLAs and spent time volunteering at local schools to help others in need wherever he could.

All donations to The Milo Anima Legacy Fund will go directly to supporting the SVHS Drama Department, providing scholarships to those in need, and other causes Milo was passionate about.

If you feel inspired to keep Milo’s legacy burning bright, please consider contributing via a donation. You can visit milowasmeantforthestage.com/donate to learn more. (link in bio)

Thank you for your time, love and support throughout this impossible time.

#alohafriday what took you so long?!
Imbibing from an early @woodyworld mug which I purchased from him at Tiki Oasis in 2015.
This was a transitional time when he was first expanding his repertoire beyond strictly velvet painting.
A shout out to the bounty of private, home tiki bars that we're privileged to be affiliated with in the greater SF Bay Area.
