I grew up thinking I needed permission. Even to do innocent things that made me feel more like myself.

So when I talk about building a skincare routine, there’s some history behind that. Taking care of myself hasn’t always been consistent. Other needs, other priorities, and decisions made just to get through have taken up a lot of room.

Now I want my days to include me, too. Being silly with my son. Working on an edit. Going out because I want to. Beautifying myself as much as I feel like it.

I don’t always know what I’m doing, but I’m taking a chance on myself. I want to get up and live.

Have you ever caught yourself waiting for permission to do something you wanted to do?

Keep up with me—Beauty Habits Edition, inside The Luxe Flow Lounge.

AI can build the image. It can’t borrow my eye.
Black and white. Gold and leopard. A whole doll era. Every version, same direction: mine.

There is a difference between using AI to make content and using AI to sharpen a point of view.

This edit sits in that difference for me.

The beauty, the gaze, the styling, the sound, the restraint — it all has to be directed. AI may generate the image, but taste, timing, cultural memory, and discernment still belong to the person guiding it.

The image is the tool.
The point of view is mine.

The Hotel Lobby trend gave us the reference. It did not remove the need for creative direction.

I used the Glam App for the first version and Kling for the second. Comparing them showed me that accuracy involves more than pressing “generate.” I had to study the wardrobe, movement, color, composition, and rhythm—and then communicate those details clearly enough for the tool to interpret them.

AI can render an idea. It cannot replace the taste, judgment, cultural awareness, or intention that determines why each detail matters.

The apps are a way to create—not the way, and certainly not the author.

Which version came closer to the original creative language for you?

A pearl takes shape layer by layer.

So does a woman returning to herself.

I’m learning to recognize beauty in the middle—not only after the healing is complete, the business is settled, the home feels certain or every answer has arrived.

I can create while I’m becoming.
I can move while I’m rebuilding.
I can let joy find me while God is still arranging the details.

Brown skin. Pearl glow. A woman still unfolding. ✨

What are you allowing yourself to enjoy before everything is perfect?

The rollers are still in, the vision is still setting, and the confidence has already arrived. 💗

I’m in a season of rebuilding, healing, repositioning and becoming more visible while the pieces are still coming together.

Being Somone means honoring all of it—the serious work, the soft moments, the woman I’m growing into and the part of me that still wants to play.

Pretty girl. Serious vision. Soft life in progress.

What part of yourself are you bringing back into the room?

Now listen… you do not casually step up to a Whitney Houston chorus. 😂🎤🔥

But Being Somone means giving myself permission to play, create, use my voice and take up space—even in Barbie form.

“Don’t make me close one more door…” because Barbie Somone came to sing like the rent was due. 😂

What song instantly turns you into the lead singer?

I used to think clarity had to arrive before movement. Now I understand that some answers only recognize you once you’re already in motion.

The woman I’m becoming doesn’t need every detail confirmed before she moves. She needs discernment for this step, courage for the next, and enough trust to continue when the full picture has not yet introduced itself.

#LAYA has a way of making determination sound like something you can dance to. “Left, Right, GO!” has been in rotation, and one day, I will work with her. Until then, this is my salute. 🖤

Some products need a full explanation. This one only needed me to show the process—and those finished edges.

I used Frontal Queen Baby Hair Control while pulling this style together, and the hold did exactly what I needed it to do. The edges told the whole story. 🩷

I added it to my Hair & Beauty Finds because I want that list to reflect products I’ve actually used—not things I’m recommending from a distance. Find it through the link in my bio.
