Ragana Venue Feature 🪺🫀⚡️The MadNest @themadnest

We’re over the moon about this one! The MadNest is a privately owned house venue with a fully equipped, black box theater. It is ideal as a performance space for local artists, a gem location for shoots and the perfect spot for that truly unique party.

Ashley East is the owner and designer of this colorfully abundant Madison home. It has been a space for the underground artist community for years and we are now opening its doors to other opportunities that match our values.

My first love, Music. The one I’m always chasing after. The one that challenges me the most. The one that teaches me the most about myself. The one that helps me speak my truth. The one that’s always been there when no one else was. The one that’s held my pain, fear, anger, grief, confusion, doubt, disappointment, and also joy, love, hope, and laughter. Without music, all of these emotions would have had no way to escape from inside of me. Without music, I’d be dead. Without music, I’d have nothing. 💛

Before We Had Names opens Saturday Oct 3. Woodcuts Gallery 6pm. ♥️

Repost from @artbymarteja 💎
I’m incredibly thankful for every artist who trusted me with their work and with the vision for this exhibition.

I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside so many of these artists over the years, watching their practices grow while growing alongside them myself. To come together again in this moment feels special.

Thank you for the trust, the years of creating together, and for bringing Before We Had Names to life.

Our collective voices have power. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how easy it is to believe the lie that our voice doesn’t really matter, that it won’t make an impact. But it’s the lie they want us to believe so they can maintain control. @macklemore @msrachelforlittles and so many other leaders show us by example how one person can inspire another and then another and then another to be brave and speak up. The only actual control we have is our voice, our ability to speak truth, to speak against injustice, to speak up for others when we see something wrong. Don’t stay silent. Be brave. Use your power. ♥️

Better 💛

Some days I just feel like having my coffee while belting old songs that remind me how much I’ve grown. Maybe I should’ve known better, but really, how would I have? You don’t know what you don’t know until you know.

All of my favorite songs are about the lessons I’ve learned from other people who came into my life for a season to teach me something I needed to know about myself. And I’m better for it. 💛

Reminder to you (and me) to always invest in yourself and make your art because it is necessary. And always surround yourself with other busy talented people who push themselves to do the same. ♥️

So honored to welcome @wkrntv into Nashville creator community and performance art venue @themadnest to discuss the lasting impact and legacy of @dollyparton on the greater artist community here in Nashville. 🪺🦋

Surrounded by the perfect backdrop of so many of Nashville’s talented artists, featuring “Hello Dolly” by Pittsburg native, now Nashville-based visual artist @jamesbrownetc, I had the privilege to share what inspires me most about Dolly… her commitment to genuinely caring for people with every color of her coat - her art, music, style, business endeavors, charitable organizations, and the very way she lived her everyday life. What an example to all of us Dolly will always be. 🦋

In true Dolly fashion, special thanks to fellow artist, musician, and friend @theinfamousher for connecting me to this opportunity and looking out for your community, enabling all of our voices to be heard. 🫶💎
