🔥 IF ALL YOU DO IS TRAIN UPPER BODY, WHY DOESN’T YOUR UPPER BODY LOOK LIKE IT? AND WHY ARE YOUR LEGS STILL AN AFTERTHOUGHT? 💪🏾🦵🏾
Symmetry is the balanced development of your muscles, creating proportion between your upper and lower body, left and right sides, and opposing muscle groups.
A balanced physique isn’t just about size. It’s about proportion, aesthetics, strength, and function.
Here’s the reality: Training a body part more often doesn’t guarantee better development. If you’re constantly hammering your upper body without seeing results, maybe it’s time to question HOW you’re training, not just HOW MUCH.
Proper technique, intensity, recovery, and exercise selection matter!
Stop training only what you see in the mirror. A truly impressive physique is balanced from head to toe.

🔥 OLD SCHOOL TRAINING ON NEW MACHINES! 💪🏾
Want BIGGER, FULLER BICEPS? It’s not just about how much weight you curl. It’s about HOW you curl it!
💪🏾 On the seated incline curl machine, I focus on the STRETCHED POSITION, where my arms are extended and my biceps are lengthened under tension.
Instead of bouncing out of the bottom, I CONTROL THE STRETCH, then curl the weight upward while squeezing my biceps HARD at the top! 💥
💡 FACTOID: Training the biceps at longer muscle lengths can stimulate muscle growth. A controlled lowering phase also increases TIME UNDER TENSION!
🔥 HERE’S THE SYMMETRY CONNECTION!
If you have SHORT BICEPS with a noticeable gap between your elbow and biceps muscle, this exercise can help you develop MORE OVERALL FULLNESS in your arms!
You can’t change your genetic muscle insertions, but you CAN build the muscle you have and improve your proportions!
🎯 TOO MANY TRAINERS FOCUS ON SIZE AND IGNORE SYMMETRY! I train to SCULPT the body, not just make it bigger or smaller!
🔥 CONTROL THE STRETCH. DRIVE THE CURL. SQUEEZE THE BICEPS!

🔥 WHY THE WEIGHTED ROPE? ADD SQUATS & PLYOMETRICS! 🥊💪🏾 Jumping rope is already one of the best tools for developing coordination, rhythm, footwork, and cardiovascular conditioning. But when you add a HEAVY ROPE, SQUATS, and PLYOMETRICS, you’re taking your training to another level! 💥 HERE’S THE SCIENCE: 🔥 MORE MUSCLE ENGAGEMENT: The heavier rope increases resistance, challenging your shoulders, arms, back, and core while your legs keep moving. 🔥 BETTER COORDINATION: Combining rope rotations with squats and explosive jumps forces your upper and lower body to work together. That’s neuromuscular training! 🔥 EXPLOSIVE POWER: Plyometrics train your muscles and nervous system to produce force quickly, improving athletic explosiveness. 🔥 SERIOUS CONDITIONING: Combining resistance with continuous movement challenges your cardiovascular system and muscular endurance simultaneously. 🔥 BALANCE & BODY CONTROL: Changing levels while maintaining your rope rhythm develops spatial awareness, timing, and stability. 💥 THIS IS NOT JUST CARDIO. THIS IS ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT! You’re training your body to THINK, REACT, STABILIZE, and EXPLODE while under physical stress. Start with a lighter rope, master your timing, then gradually increase resistance and complexity. Quality movement comes before intensity! At 56, I’m not training just to look athletic. I’m training to REMAIN athletic! 🎯 Want to learn the MJM jump rope system? HIT THE LINK IN BIO for online or in-person coaching. TRAIN HARD. TRAIN SMART. 🩸 BLOODWORK: STOP GUESSING. KNOW YOUR NUMBERS! 💪🏾
You can look healthy on the outside and still have serious problems developing on the inside! Being muscular, lean, or physically active doesn’t automatically mean you’re metabolically healthy.
Your testosterone, thyroid hormones, insulin, blood sugar, cholesterol, inflammation markers, vitamin levels, and organ function all play a role in how you feel, perform, and recover.
YOU CAN’T OPTIMIZE WHAT YOU HAVEN’T MEASURED!
After 30 years of working with elite performers, one thing I’ve learned is that you cannot build a truly personalized wellness program on guesswork.
That’s why the Mark Jenkins Method starts with BLOODWORK!
Through our partnership with Marek Health, we offer comprehensive testing:
🩸27 tests covering 82 biomarkers
🩸Ultimate testing covering 100+ biomarkers
🩸In-depth bloodwork review
🩸Personalized nutrition recommendations
🩸Training and recovery strategies informed by your results
Why take supplements when you don’t know what you’re deficient in? Why follow someone else’s diet when you don’t understand your own metabolism? Why blame aging when you haven’t investigated your hormones?
YOUR BLOODWORK IS YOUR BODY’S REPORT CARD!
At MJM, we combine science, nutrition, training, and recovery to help you make informed decisions about your health.
Don’t wait until something goes wrong to start paying attention!

🔥 WHY MEN AND WOMEN NEED TO TRAIN THEIR NECK! 💪🏾
You train your chest, back, shoulders, legs, and abs, but when was the last time you trained your NECK? Your neck is one of the most neglected muscle groups in fitness, and that goes for BOTH men and women!
🔬 THE SCIENCE: Your head weighs approximately 10–12 pounds, and your neck muscles work constantly to support it, stabilize your spine, and control movement. Poor posture, hours looking down at phones, and prolonged sitting can place additional demands on these muscles.
💪🏾 WHY NECK TRAINING MATTERS:
✅ POSTURE: Stronger neck muscles help support proper head positioning and cervical stability.
✅ INJURY RESILIENCE: Neck strength helps control head movement during sudden forces, particularly important in contact sports. However, strength alone cannot prevent concussions.
✅ ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE: Whether you’re boxing, wrestling, practicing martial arts, or playing football, your neck is part of your body’s stabilization system.
✅ EVERYDAY FUNCTION: Improved muscular endurance can help your neck tolerate the demands of daily activities.
✅ BALANCED DEVELOPMENT: Your neck is part of your physique! Why develop massive shoulders and traps while neglecting the muscles connecting them to your head?
👩🏾 LADIES, THIS INCLUDES YOU! Neck training isn’t just about building a thick, muscular neck. It’s about strength, stability, posture, and maintaining function as you age.
⚠️ MJM TRAINING TIP: Train your neck in all directions—forward, backward, and side to side. Start with light resistance, use controlled movements, and progress gradually. This is your cervical spine, not a muscle group to overload recklessly!
Remember, fitness isn’t just about the muscles people can see. It’s about developing a body that performs as well as it looks!

🔥 BUILD A STRONGER CORE — NOT JUST BETTER-LOOKING ABS! 💪🏾
Cross-body straight-leg raises, cross-body crunches, and a stability ball combine to create a serious core challenge. This movement targets your abs and obliques while forcing your entire body to stabilize on an unstable surface.
The goal isn’t simply to complete reps—it’s to control every inch of the movement without losing balance. No momentum. No sloppy reps. Just focused, deliberate contractions.
Train your core for strength, stability, and performance. Experience THE MARK JENKINS METHOD—link in bio! 💪🏾

🔥 WHY USE A POWER RACK? SAFETY, STRENGTH & INDEPENDENCE! 💪🏾
In this video, I’m doing a drop set of incline bench presses, starting at 225 pounds and working my way down to muscular failure. EMPTY GYM. NO SPOTTER. NO PROBLEM! Why? Because my safety bars are properly positioned to catch the weight if I fail.
But the power rack is much more than a safety device! By adjusting the pins, you can isolate specific ranges of motion, overload sticking points and strengthen the weakest portions of your lifts.
One of my favorite techniques is using TWO sets of pins. One establishes the bottom position, while the other creates an immovable resistance point. I press against that upper bar for THREE SECONDS, creating maximum isometric tension! No momentum, just pure muscular effort. Research shows isometric training can increase strength at and around the angles being trained.
The biggest benefit? INDEPENDENCE! You shouldn’t need a training partner to push your limits safely. Proper setup and technique are essential, especially when training to failure.
A huge part of the MARK JENKINS METHOD is teaching clients to master EVERY piece of equipment in the gym. I don’t want you dependent on me or waiting around for someone to spot you. I want you KNOWLEDGEABLE, CONFIDENT and INDEPENDENT!
Learn your equipment. Train intelligently. MAXIMIZE YOUR POTENTIAL!

Your feet are your foundation—and mine were weak. I switched to training exclusively in barefoot shoes years ago after my first jiu-jitsu camp exposed how little strength and stability I had in my feet and ankles. Once I made the change, my functional movement improved, my balance improved, my calves developed and every major lift became stronger. Why? Because stability starts at the ground. Conventional cushioned sneakers place layers of padding between your feet and the floor. When your feet can’t feel the ground, they can’t grip, spread and stabilize the body as effectively. Most running shoes are designed to cushion repetitive forward movement—not create a flat, stable base for squatting, lateral movement, calf training or heavy lifting. Barefoot shoes forced my toes, arches, ankles and calves to participate in every repetition. My feet became active instead of just being passengers inside a shoe. That stronger connection to the floor gave me more control, better force transfer and greater stability throughout my entire body. Start slowly. If your feet have spent years inside cushy sneakers, those muscles are probably undertrained and deconditioned. Build your exposure gradually and give your feet, calves and Achilles time to adapt. Every lift begins where your body meets the ground. Strengthen your foundation and everything above it gets better. Hit the link in the bio for a program designed around your body and biomechanics. Rehab isn’t only about rebuilding tissue—it’s about rebuilding trust. After tearing my right quadriceps tendon, a major part of my recovery was single-leg cardio. I trained one leg at a time on the rower—which is extremely difficult—the upright and recumbent bikes, the assault bike and the elliptical you see here. Working my injured leg alone stopped my stronger left side from quietly taking over. After an injury, your body can subconsciously shift weight away from the damaged side. Single-leg cardio forced me to reconnect with my right leg, rebuild confidence in it and prepare it for the workout ahead. On the elliptical, I started with 15 minutes and built toward 16–20, alternating legs every 90 seconds to two minutes. It’s a burner—but every controlled stride says, “I trust this leg again.” After warming up, I moved into deeper, controlled ballistic stretching—not prolonged static stretching. Before training, I want movement, rhythm, mobility and activation. I save the deeper static holds for after the workout. Warm the tissue, prepare the nervous system, then train. You know you’re in shape when your physique starts triggering people and their first response is, “It’s genetics.” Funny how nobody looks at an educated, accomplished person and immediately dismisses years of studying, sacrifice and discipline by saying, “They’re only intelligent because of genetics.” But when somebody builds an exceptional body, suddenly DNA gets all the credit. Why is genetics an acceptable explanation for appearance but rarely the first explanation for intellect? Because reducing your physique to genetics protects people from confronting their own lack of discipline. Genetics influence both the mind and the body, but potential still has to be developed. My DNA didn’t train for decades, prepare my meals, protect my recovery or keep working when motivation disappeared—I did. Calling everything genetics isn’t always a compliment. Sometimes it’s passive aggression designed to erase the work. Respect the genetics, but put some respect on the discipline—or get in shape so you can stop hating. SPLIT SQUAT FOR THE WIN.🏆Three benefits conventional squats and moving lunges often miss:1️⃣Exposes imbalances—each leg works independently, so your dominant side can’t take over.2️⃣Keeps constant tension—the stationary stance removes momentum and demands greater control.3️⃣Builds strength and mobility together—the front leg produces force while the rear hip flexor opens under load.More stability.Better symmetry.Stronger hips.Real-world strength.Train with intention. It’s the Mark Jenkins Method.#SplitSquat#LegDay#UnilateralTraining#FunctionalStrength#HipMobilityBetterBalanceMJMMarkJenkinsMethod
