So proud of our entire cast and crew who helped bring this story to life !
Shout out to our lead actor @themarktoguchi who brought such a genuine performance to his role. His monologue at the end of the film makes me cry every single time I watch it. The way you performed that scene was so powerful and real, full of emotion yet grounded.
Can’t wait for people to see you in this break out role! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

I worked on sound for different teams for two short films (I AM AMERICAN @iamamericanfilm and @detectivemediafilms' "Twice If You're Lucky", which both have their respective trailers out now to view) that aren't connected in anyway visually and audibly but at the same time are connected by several people involved in both projects. It also has faces involved in one or the other, which is just as amazing.
.
Thank you for believing in my work. You know who you people are.
.
For the TIYL, I tagged the people from the "upper view"

The official trailer for Twice If You’re Lucky is here.

Tyler and Jake used to be inseparable. Years later, a quiet rivalry has taken its place.

Arriving at Jake’s 40th birthday at his luxurious lakehouse, Tyler is confronted by everything he didn't achieve. To make matters worse, Jake's luck never seems to run out.

A short film about winners and losers.

Official Trailer for I AM AMERICAN 🇺🇸🤍

In 1915, a young Japanese woman immigrates to America as a picture bride, believing she has finally found the place where she and her future family can build a life. Together, she and her husband work hard to establish a restaurant, raise American-born children, and pursue the promise of the American Dream. But after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the family discovers that citizenship and belonging cannot protect them when Executive Order 9066 is signed, their American life is dismantled, forcing them to confront what it truly means to be American. 🇺🇸

This film was made to honor and preserve the legacy of those who suffered this dark piece of American history, including my own family 🤍

Please help us spread the word about our film to the community 🤍 Its rare that our stories ever get told so please share this film far and wide so that anyone who wants to see it is able to 🤗

Thank for those who have continued to support our film. We are fiscally sponsored by The Northwest Film Forum so donations are tax deductible! Link is found on our website www.ckfilmspro.com

Keep us in prayer as we begin our film festival submissions 🙏🏻

Shout out to our trailer editor @chriskoser_dp , who was also our director of photography and filmed all of these beautiful scenes 😭

I AM AMERICAN is complete 😭🤍
When I look back on the journey of making this film I can't help but cry. Soo many people helped make this film possible. It has been a dream of mine to tell this story for over a decade. This is my family's story but also over 120,000 other Nikkei family's Stories. It's been an honor to tell their story in this film and ensure that it is never forgotten.
To every single person that helped out on I AM AMERICAN, thank you!! 😭😭😭 So many people jumped in to offer support during pre-production all the way through to now. EVERY SINGLE person that shared this film , supported us, helped connect us to the right people , advised me on my historical accuracy questions, opened your doors for us to film, the list goes on and on. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!! We couldn't have made this film without all of you jumping in and supporting us and helping us to preserve this very important piece of American history.
When I look through the archival photos that I used as an inspiration of moments that I wanted to capture in frame and compare those to the scenes we actually captured I am floored. These photos inspired dialogue, scenes, LIFE. And were beautifully gut wrenching to see them all come to life on screen.
There are hundreds of people to thank in this post. I am beyond grateful for each and every one of you. Making a film is a full team effort. This was a film that was always made for the community but as we went into production I felt the tremendous support and realized it's also been made BY our community. 😭🤍
We had over 60 people a part of our film who are direct descendants of family who were incarcerated during WWII. It's been so healing to be able to connect with their story and their real lived experience through making this movie. From honoring their name and number on our prop name tags, to carrying the luggage they carried to concentration camp.
I am so full of gratitude. Our deadline goal was 8/31, SUNDANCE. And we made it !! It's always been a dream of mine to go, so here's to asking you all to lift up prayers and ask for open doors and Gods hand of favor so we can premiere our film there in January. 🤍Kelsi
