The Bengali Met Gala, aka @bengalifilmfestival was so much fun and I honestly wish the day had lasted longer.

What a privilege to be surrounded by Bangladeshi-American excellence, celebrating documentaries, storytelling, art, and music. How often do we get to dress up, be whimsical, and gather in one place with our fellow Bengalis to celebrate our culture?

As the daughter of a Bangladeshi surgeon and a Filipina nurse who left their families back home to work in Saudi Arabia(!) creativity wasn’t really seen as a viable career path since their focus was survival, sacrifice, and opportunity. That makes nights like this feel even more meaningful watching our community filled with the nyc grit be able to create, tell our own stories, and celebrate them together while balancing home and full-time work lives.

Thank you, @bengalisofnewyork for bringing such a beautiful evening to life and making what once felt impossible possible for our community.

I’m so excited to see what’s next for the Bengali diaspora here in the greatest city in the world. 🤍

Wearing @thematinedit by one of my greatest of friends &sister duos @bengali_barbie and @monish_tish.

As someone who does events frequently for my day job and whose family will use any reason ANY REASON to throw a themed party, I’m very familiar with the blood, sweat, and tears involved in even the smallest of events. And every year the @bengalifilmfestival continues outdoing itself. I remember two years ago the show sold out so quickly that now when I see those tickets drop my family immediately ADDS TO CART because the art is tooo good to miss. I love me a curated event where everyone understands the dress code 🫶🫰

And ofc no look is complete without a sprinkle of @thematinedit . The overwhelming love of all the gorgeous girlies in our shawls was beyond our wildest dreams. And while @thematinedit didn’t exist last year, I hope you can tell there were signs ✨

2025 and 2026 ate, already can’t wait for next year!!
