🃏The Adicts are the original punk rock jesters, drawing heavy influence from such iconic media like Clockwork Orange, and are increasingly relevant in a world of jokers, fools, clowns & more 🤡

They played @thenovodtla via @goldenvoice for the perfect Halloween spectacle🎃Are you doing anything fun for the spooky season?

New audiences discover the band through drummers Fletcher Shears of The Garden, his dad, Steve Shears (3rd slide & former drum tech or X, drummer for Shattered Faith) or other legendary punk rock roots.

Photographer @5mileponytail was a fan of the band back in the day, and connected with her kids, who were big fans of The Garden/Fletcher shears, and who needed a parent to take them to live shows as they started getting more into music. She’d be up front with her kids rocking out, taking photos, videos, and bands/fans started noticing! Her videos were reposted by the groups she would see with her kids, and the community rallied around the badass mom who knew bands as well as all the die hards! That was good enough for us, so with the help of @jennabeetakespics they snapped us these shots, and we’ll have a proper write up on the show review from last night!

Check the link in our bio for great coverage of shows like these, & stay tuned!

🫦We’ve been lowkey dancing to the new Boy Harsher album for almost a full month between Halloween hits (what are your go to releases for October btw?) so please let us remind you how good GET MEAN is if you don’t realize already!👀

The album is the first major release in 4 years since their film score for The Runner, and it’s the follow up everyone has been waiting for.🖌️

The band have a string of sold out shows in big cities, and you can bet we’ll be at the San Diego show (we’re based in Carlsbad) at @thesoundsd!

Check the link in our bio for our review of GET MEAN as we dub it one of the best releases of 2026 (what a great year for music)!

Do you have any favorite releases this year so far?

What were festivals like 10+ years ago? Pretty good! Many of the bands that were rocking out international festivals back then are still playing incredibly cool and unique festivals now!

What’re your favorite bands on these lineups? Any funny low billed bands that have blown up since then? We’re looking at you, Mac DeMarco!

Another great example of a band that’s been absolutely crushing it for decades (that played tons of great past and recent fests) = Osees (3rd pic). They’ve rocked multiple years of some of the best festivals in the 🌎, and they absolutely blew @sessionssurffestival out of the water last weekend! Check the link in our bio for a recap!

Do you have a favorite unique or international music fest? Sessions was at the beach with a ton of cool sights, sounds & a full movie festival!

Great local event putting San Diego (Encinitas) on the map.

The Frights have always had one foot in the mainstream (like the excellent @goldenvoice Tropicália fest from 2018) and one foot in the DIY community.

The San Diego band has been on labels like @epitaphrecords , home of other punk+ groups like The Garden, have been independent before, during and after major victories with the big leagues, and have carved out a unique sound, toured all over the world & still bring it all back home.

We caught the group last weekend at @observatorynorthpark in San Diego for their wild homecoming show & anniversary tour.

You’re Going To Hate This is one of their best albums, but you’re going to love this (review) & the rest of the tour if you check the link in our bio

Hero Fest coverage incoming! Meet @oliviapiscopo, our new reporter for The East Coast! In addition to attending some pretty cool media events, she’ll be documenting the indie & general music scenes around NY, NJ, Brooklyn, Philly etc. You may know her dad from SNL (you can guess his name)🎭

Let us know what events/bands/content you’d like to see covered in that area, as we’re particularly interested in emerging DIY & indie scenes, and always open for recommendations!

This Sunday, she’ll be covering @herofestnyc in Brooklyn for us, (presented by @hero.magnus) which still has tickets available, so if you want to hang at one of the coolest new events of the year, we’ll be there with ya! :)

Stay cool 😎🦄

Bring back Cruel World! The excellent @goldenvoice fest, had a 2022, 2023, and 2025 edition. Although it seems like a 2026 fest didn’t happen, we’re hoping for another edition of the incredibly curated fest, or something comparable in the future. Who is your favorite artist that played the fest?

One of our favorite bands on “The Lost Boys” stage was Boy Harsher in 2023.

They’ve got a new album coming out after four years, a new single, and a national tour (a lot is already sold out tho, so get on it!)

We recommend SoCal fans hit up @thesoundsd because the Los Angeles and Orange County shows are at capacity.

Also, we’ll be there celebrating the new release of GET MEAN, which comes out September 18th on @atlanticrecords Will you be at their tour or listening to their new album? *Hint* you better be!

The Garden X Nick Fry at their recent show at @goldenvoice’s @thewarfield (San Francisco).

If there was one photo that summed up this tour best so far, (and it’s still early, so grab your tickets!) it’s this one. @nicksmusictaste is one of our favorite current reviewers, interviewers, and music journalists. He offers refreshing takes that are quick, poignant, and well thought out. He flew to the recent show in San Francisco just to see the band because he was such a fan of their recent album and live shows. He got great footage, interviewed the band (one of only a few interviews for this album/tour!) and is just all around crushing it.

We love the newer generation of music fans, concert goers, and Vadaverse (fans) of Wyatt/Fletcher Shears, and people like Nick are refreshing our faith in music journalism in general.

Can’t say enough positive stuff about this photo!

Get yourself to these shows, because they’re FINALLY playing states they haven’t toured in awhile, they’re crushing it every night, and tickets are STILL available! Check @matmagshows for more details on the concerts & events you should be paying attention to!

Check the link in our bio to see our recent recaps, videos, awesome photos & more from @thematmagazine on our Substack of the ongoing tour!

Interpol have been tearing up the world with amazing tours, & they just recently played a sold out @theshellsd with Julie, and uh oh also TONY HAWK introduced the band! 🕊️🦅🦆🦜

They also played with Diiv, Youth Lagoon, & will be playing a UK/EU tour with Bloc Party later this year.

Did we mention their latest album has been the release fans have been waiting for?! We’ll have a review on that soon.

Check the link in our bio for what this all means for a band that’s been delivering for over 20 years!

Make sure to catch them on tour, & check @matmagshows for more must see sets this year.

Julian Casablancas hypes up The Garden, says they’re from the future on their tour together (from Seattle, August 28th)

Hopefully we get some pics of the bands together, but for now, the best we have is Julian talking about the majestic & beautiful Wyatt & Fletcher Shears in this video from the other night!

The Strokes section of the tour may be over, but that just means we’re getting: FULLER set lists, more encore songs (they didn’t play any of their encore opening up for Julian), and more BOOTLEG & classics!

We got a ton of video & even a full YouTube channel with 10 years of content with bands like Julian Casablancas, Mac DeMarco, and of course groups like The Garden in the link in our bio, so check it out!

Catch all the must see tours at @matmagshows to stay up to date
