The entrepreneurial ecosystem in Greater New Orleans is strong but often overlooked. 🔍 GNO, Inc. is working to change that. Through programs like Startup Noir NOLA’s Venture Voir, GNO, Inc. is putting Louisiana and the Gulf South on the map of some of the most exciting funds from around the country. And most importantly, we’re giving local founders the opportunity to connect with them. 🤝

This week I’m the guest on @nolaouttolunch, the business podcast and radio show hosted by Peter Ricchiuti on @npr affiliate WWNO 89.9 FM, recorded live from @TheColumnsHotel! 🎙️ We talked about two things you may not think go together: fine dining and software for child development. And somehow, the conversation was SO good. It was great being at lunch with James Beard Best Chef @ashwinvilkhu of @saffronnola & @thekingswaynola . Thanks for having me, Peter! Tune in Thursday at 12:30 PM or listen wherever you get your podcasts.

At Camelback, our work has never stopped at funding. Capital is only one piece of the journey, and we're committed to opening doors, expanding networks, and creating opportunities for our Fellows to build the relationships that help their ventures grow and sustain. During Essence Fest weekend, we partnered with Maroon and Startup Noir NOLA (Greater New Orleans, Inc. – GNO, Inc. initiative), to bring together funders, investors, founders, and ecosystem leaders committed to strengthening pathways for historically overlooked entrepreneurs. The evening featured a fireside conversation with our CEO Shawna Young, joined by Salem Habte of Startup Noir NOLA and Ryan Bates of Bates Development, exploring what it takes to create stronger ecosystems of support — followed by pitches from three New Orleans-based Camelback Fellows building bold solutions in the communities they call home. Because when founders have access to the right rooms, resources, and communities — they don't just scale ventures; they build a new blueprint for entrepreneurship. #CamelbackVentures #EssenceFestival #Founders #essencefest

One thing I’m reminded of again and again: founders don’t succeed in isolation, they succeed in community. Last week during @hellonoew I had the pleasure of moderating a panel at Startup Noir Summit 2026 featuring innovative founders (also @camelbackventures ) who are building impactful ventures and communities. New Orleans continues to prove that when people invest in community, innovation follows. Grateful to be in conversation with: • Shay Claiborne | @milestonemate.app • Kwame Terra, MPH | @behrhealth • Charon Flowers Maple + Spencer Davis | @bypasslinesapp It felt fitting that the focus of our conversation was ecosystem building in the entrepreneurial landscape. Moments like these remind me why founder-centered storytelling and community building are such powerful forces for change. A few reflections that stayed with me: ✨Leverage your networks. The strongest ecosystems grow when founders intentionally connect and collaborate. ✨ Support other founders. Entrepreneurship can be isolating, but community makes the journey more sustainable. ✨Amplify your brand and your story. Visibility matters — not just for individual ventures but for the health of the entire ecosystem. Special thanks to the Greater New Orleans, Inc. – @gnoinc including Salem Habte and Jasmine Brown DeRousselle for organizing another impactful summit. And deep gratitude to those who came out to support our panel: Errika Moore, Henrick Karoliszyn and Dave Badie. . . . . . #NOEW #StartupNoir #EcosystemBuilding #Entrepreneurship #CamelbackVentures Founders NewOrleans SocialImpact

Startups grow a lot like children develop. You crawl. You walk. Then you run. Customer discovery and early supporters are the ecosystem that helps you take those first steps before you’re profitable. Shared this perspective at the Startup Noir Summit during @hellonoew . Grateful for the Louisiana ecosystem & community of mentors supporting @milestonemate.app ✨👇 @camelbackventures @ideavillage @techplug.tech @nexuslouisiana
