How do you design for density, in a city like Singapore? How can you better treat home as a sacred space? How is design influencing women’s lives?

These are questions we are asking at the inaugural #VogueLivingConversations on 16 October at @nationalgallerysingapore, in conjunction with the debut of #VogueLivingSingapore.

🛍️ A spate of trendy store openings in the East Coast area has cemented Joo Chiat’s status as a serious shopping destination, some years after the enclave’s rebrand as a trendy cafe spot.

Tenants say the laidback atmosphere, interesting neighbours and kampong spirit are draws to the area.

Design that doesn't age with the trends.

Meet Mikael Teh of @themonocotstudio, a Singapore-based architecture designer whose practice rests on one belief: good design should endure. Trained as an architect, he pairs materials that stay relevant through time with carefully curated vintage and luxury pieces to create interiors that feel both sophisticated and deeply personal.

"I remember during primary school, my mum taught me how to draw and colour. That was when I really fell in love with making art. Later, my teacher introduced me to architecture, and from then on I knew exactly what I wanted to pursue."

𝘖𝘣𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘊𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 - The Ant™ chair is one of those iconic pieces I’ve been wanting to add to our home for a long time and we’re so glad it’s finally here.

Designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1952 for the canteen of a Danish pharmaceutical company, it was a total breakthrough in molded plywood design. The 3-legged variant in black is my absolute favourite. There is something so sculptural and unapologetically modernist about its silhouette.

Safe to say, the chairs have already undergone rigorous quality testing by the feline residents. 🐾

This July, @xtradesigns invites visitors to explore the science of neuroaesthetics through an immersive design showcase at Marina Square’s Central Atrium. Curated in collaboration with multidisciplinary design studio @producesg, the experience brings together thoughtfully styled residential spaces, lifestyle installations, and curated pop-ups that explore how light, colour, form, texture, and nature influence our wellbeing.

The five-day event also features design talks by XTRA’s long-time partners @louispoulsen, @muutodesign, and @stringfurniture, alongside interactive workshops and lifestyle experiences from a curated line-up of design, wellness, and creative brands.
