Ua wela ʻiʻo nō!🔥

A big mahalo to our UH Hilo students and greater Hilo community for supporting our local businesses, connecting with our vendors, discovering new favorites, and learning the stories behind their products!

To our vendors, mahalo for sharing your creativity, businesses, and stories with our mākeke. We’re grateful for your willingness to share the inspiration, community, and ʻike that shape your work and connect with our students.

And of course, mahalo to Ānuenue’s Kitchen & Catering Co. for the ʻono food and Selector Mawae for the impeccable music taste, spinning vinyl and keeping the jams pumping all night long! 🎶🔥

Wela Ka Hao is rooted in uplifting the creativity, stories, and talents within our communities while encouraging us to embrace opportunities as they arise. Mahalo nui for being part of this vision and helping make it a reality!

Happy birthday to the boss man, who absolutely hates being called the boss!

You took a chance on the girl who, at the time, only photographed sports one day and the rest is history. You gave me an opportunity, trusted me to figure it out, and helped open a door I didn’t even know I needed.

Forever grateful for the chances you’ve given me, the lessons along the way, and for believing in me when I was still figuring it all out.

Happy birthday to the model who probably has more photos in my camera roll than anyone else!

Kirk, a true day one. From being my baseball park buddy and playing tag with me anytime I asked, to somehow becoming one of my favorite people to photograph. I take pride in being your “personal photographer”.

That one day you hit me with, “Kai, I need a photographer,” right when I was going through my two-month photography crisis. You probably didn’t even realize it, but you pulled me right out of my funk and reminded me why I love doing this.

To “MORE” birthdays and laughs! Happy birthday skinny legend!!
