@aydojac Festival Circuit Lap 1, Fall 2026, Chelsea Film Festival Close enough to Cannes, but in my hometown for an experience uniquely absurd: the false regal of an aqua violet 90s multiplex refitted with recliners so plush, you’ll nap—adjacent to sleepy BFPL no less. Proud to be a part of something fiercely French, across the Atlantic in NY, and resembling all the glitz of the wedding I’ll never have. CFF seems to recognize, foremost, that romance is what fuels our existence….all things in earnest, and properly, this aligns my story with theirs. Thank you to Ingrid and Sonia and the festival workers for all the support you gave @aydojac. Thank you everyone that caught our film BIG and said nice things to me in the hallways and largely in passing. I’ve been quite hesitant to share this film because I’ve in all honesty lost my sense of what I made, so intentionally, when I first wrote it. Thank you especially to my friend Mike Patten who helped me to chisel out this version and finish our film. When I watch @aydojac now it all feels so naive and hopeful and packed with whimsy in an effort to claim all the rejection I’ve felt over the past four years. I made exactly what I set out to make with such trust amongst the filmmakers and actors I assembled. I hope that more people will come to understand the kind of melancholy that fills me up through the patient observation I try to compose in my images. Life is about seeing, after all… you don’t need to say much if you take the time to feel someone for who they are. Maybe these words are far too sentimental. But some of us want a little more than to be a quip you scroll past, or to feign some kind of borrowed prestige. Back in May I had the pleasure of programming and operating Audio/Video for PMX40, and it was such an interesting and wild variety of performances. It was a great experience, especially thanks to the friendly and knowledgeable @newdancealliance and @abronsartscenter staff! For 40 years, New Dance Alliance’s Performance Mix Festival has offered diverse emerging and mid- career artists an opportunity to share work with audiences in Manhattan. Annually, it offers this jam-packed program of local, national, and international artists with the direct aim of supporting thedevelopment of experimental works with the public. The original Performance Mix Festival in 1986 wasgroundbreaking in that it was the only festival at that time exclusively dedicated to performance art in Lower Manhattan. Its continued success is testimony to its vital necessity in New York’s cultural community.

Apply by August 14th, 11:59pm. 🔗 Check our bio for the application link! ☀️ The LiftOff Residency takes place at NDA’s Studio in Tribeca and provides six physical-based performance artists with 30 hours of rehearsal space each, an introductory meeting, and two feedback sessions. This residency is for artists looking to join a small cohort of artists to share and give feedback on each other’s work. You must be a New York City based artist in order to apply. This section from “…she was becoming untethered.” Was largely inspired by the twisted and textured paintings of Salvador Dali. Dalì’s use of crutches to support enlarged limbs and disjointed body parts, insinuating that for something to be perceived as sexual it needed to also lack practicality—to serve no other purpose than pleasure. His depiction of excess flesh, the grotesque, and the bizarre made its way into this research as the dancers simultaneously embody the disintegration of the space, and the creature of the creeping woman that lives behind the Wallpaper in Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s short story.
