“CCI is showing what it looks like to increase media coverage around the Paralympics the right way,” said Zach Miller, U.S. Paralympic snowboarder. “By focusing on the athletes and identifying gaps in coverage, the Paralympics Project is helping drive positive growth in sports media.”

That’s the impact of the Paralympics Project, led by @utkjem professor Erin Whiteside.

Whiteside’s research examines who gets represented in sports media and whose stories are overlooked. Through the project, CCI students are putting that research into action, reporting from the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games and the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games in Milan and Cortina in partnership with @usatoday Network.

Click the link in bio to read more about how Whiteside’s research is amplifying the visibility of Paralympic athletes and giving students hands-on reporting experience.

Team work makes the dream work!

You don’t build a badass bond by staying inside your comfort zone.

Friday was such a good day. ❤️ We got to hear Paralympian Zach Miller share his story with our kids, and I loved his message:

“It’s not what happens to you. It’s what you do with what happens to you.”

Such a good reminder for my little second graders…and for their teacher too. @themountainmiller

Last Friday, our students had the opportunity to hear from Zach Miller — 2x Paralympian and 2x World Champion! 🏆

Born with cerebral palsy, Zach has worked through countless challenges to become the athlete and person he is today. He talked with our students about the different “name tags” we all wear and how the things we go through don’t have to define us.

His message? Work through the hard things, believe in yourself, and leave your mark. ❤️

Thank you, Zach, for inspiring our BEARS to do just that! 🐻✨

Just getting started with #ChampionSchools34 📚🎉

We’ve officially kicked off Opening Ceremonies with @kengarff4good at 5 of the 7 school districts participating in our pilot program: Salt Lake City, West Valley City, Logan, Vernal and Roosevelt!

We’re one step closer to inspiring Utah’s next generation through the power of sport, and we’re just getting started.
