Never knew I was just like the old blazer hanging in the men’s back section at the @Goodwill 😲

Thrifted item tells a redemption story and I relate well!

My son’s life didn’t end his impact, it literally changed how I see everything.

As the days, months, and years go by-that impact evolves.

And today, I don’t have the perfect words to explain that. However, I’m living in a way that reflects the love I still carry because

Let’s talk about this…

؜ ؜How many times have we planned our lives down to the last “T” only to later have to surrender to an alternative plan we couldn’t have even imagined

Remember saying something like this?

•I’ll marry before 28. ؜
•Have kids before 38. ؜
•Buy a house before 30. ؜
•Finish school by 27. ؜
•Advanced in my career by 25.
•Live in five states by 32.
•Retired by 50.

His will can be a completely different plan.

Did we even consult our Maker before finalizing these goals❔

From now on, call me GraAuntieMama because I’ll become a mom to earth-side kids if and when he says I will.

Although, I might cry through the lost plans I had for myself, I’m invested in HIS version of me.

Surrendering is a sacrifice 🙏🏾

Some things don’t have to be said loudly to be felt deeply.

Like the way a ribbon ties softly but holds firmly.

Like the way a bow adorns a gift without needing to explain the worth inside.

Every color, every curve, every corner of the room told a story…
of softness,
of strength,
of women who are learning to carry them both with grace.

We didn’t just sit in chairs.
We sat in comfort.
In sisterhood.
In style.

And when we left,
we didn’t just take gift boxes
we took reminders:

• that healing can be gentle 🤎
• that life has to be embraced
• and that presence is its own kind of power

This wasn’t just a moment.
It was a ribbon tied around a memory

After the loss of my son, Katina became a shoulder I could lean on—a steady source of comfort, understanding, and faith-filled encouragement. Though our connection began over six years ago through shared grief and online conversations, we finally met in person for the very first time at the @womanevolve conference.

That moment was a full-circle blessing.

Katina has been someone I could pray with, cry with, and simply be with. Faith has always been the center of our sisterhood, and I’m deeply grateful for the way she’s walked with me, prayed with me, and reminded me that I’m not alone.

Thank you, Katina, for your heart, your obedience, and the space you’ve created for grieving mothers to feel seen, heard, and held. I love you, sis.

Grief is more than sadness. ⤵️

It touches every part of who we are—physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
And many grieving moms are shocked by the symptoms no one talks about.

💔 Here are lesser-known symptoms of grief you might not expect:

🧠 Mental:
• Forgetfulness or “grief brain” (struggling to focus)
• Trouble making even small decisions
• Sudden fear of something happening to others
• Vivid dreams or nightmares
• Feeling like you’re in a fog or outside your body

💔 Emotional:
• Irritability over small things
• Guilt for smiling or laughing
• Emotional numbness
• Sudden waves of anger or jealousy
• Loss of joy in things you used to love

🫀 Physical:
• Heaviness in your chest or body
• Fatigue that no amount of sleep helps
• Aches, stomach pain, or headaches with no clear cause
• Changes in appetite or digestion
• Cold sensitivity or feeling shaky

🤍 Spiritual:
• Feeling disconnected from God or your beliefs
• Questioning everything you once knew
• Intense yearning for signs or dreams
• Anger at a higher power
• Searching for meaning in everything

👥 Social:
• Avoiding social events or conversations
• Feeling misunderstood or out of place
• Being overwhelmed by small talk
• Anxiety in group settings
• Pulling away from friends and family who “don’t get it”

Seven years ago today, you died in my arms. I had to tell you goodbye before I ever really got to know you.

June 2025, I’ve published a book in your honor.

I wish I took more pictures, recorded more videos, had more memories, had more time. I miss the woman I was before that moment because it changed me forever.

For a long time, I felt cheated. Robbed of memories. Of firsts. Of a future. But I’m no longer mad at God. Her death gave me purpose. It gave me a voice. It called me to serve in a space nobody wants to talk about… but one too many of us are living in.

Everyday, a new mom joins this community. Black child loss needs to be seen. Needs to be spoken. Needs me.

And I’m showing up. Unapologetically.

I miss you so much, my sweet Bella. 💕

I will never forget the day I had a super deep conversation with God, when He said something incredibly powerful..

I’ll be honest, I have to often come back to this conversation to keep myself grounded.

Listen, he had me sobbing and I feel compelled to share this.
