Thank you to all the beautiful ladies who came out early to celebrate with us & move your bodies together. There was so much love in the room & we’re so grateful to everyone who shared this morning with us.

The theme was SO beautiful. Aundria’s vision was chrome, futuristic, birthday energy & it was beautifully executed from beginning to end.

May today also be a reminder that you can honor yourself on your birthday in so many ways. Today we did that through movement of the body & being in community with one another!

One of the most special things we can do is hold space for one another & I’m so grateful we got to do exactly that together. 🤍

Thank you again to everyone who came, celebrated & made this morning so special.

today makes 4 years that i have been an initiated/crowned priest of Oya Iyansan in the Lukumi tradition. my name in the Lukumi faith is “Afefe iña bi” meaning the winds of fire are here/born. every year has been a whirlwind of change, pushing me closer toward my own self. for a great bulk of my path, i believed the strength of my crown rested in my performance. i thought i must learn every single thing & be all that there is to being what i thought it meant to be a “perfect” priest. i did learn, i am still learning so much as i continue this path. i worked rigorously, giving my life to this effort to show and prove that “i have what it takes” & still, it felt as though as much as i had done & learned, my connection with the Orisha was but a virtue. a distant thing that i was looking to defend, perform, & to some extent.. be accepted by people for.
i wouldn’t be Oya’s child, if i didn’t witness her completely rip all that behavior & every environment that depended on it to shreds. i not only had to stop trying to prove my crown, i had to stop trying to prove MYSELF & really learn what a prison it is, to be subject to the approval of everyone else but still deeply suffering within myself.
But when she moves things away, she also moves more necessary things close.

I found through trusting her through transitions, i was brought to a home that has brought me up with love & tenderness, held me as i recovered what i thought i lost, put me in position to exercise what i have learned, trusted me to trust myself and most of all.. gave me the space to start really walking in my faith.
Year 4 taught the gift of embodiment. the true blessing that is having Achè. true OKAN (heart). i watched my world transform from the inside out into one even greater than promised. I was brought home to my purpose, to myself. I have never felt so truly a vessel to such a profound spirit than I do now. The warrior woman lives in me and loves the wild woman I’ve become.
