A repost, but one that we thought might be useful in this season where grief is everywhere and so is alcohol. Any and all tips, suggestions, accounts, experiences, and resources for recovery or keeping alcohol in check welcome in the comments. Because it is HARD. And, like with grief, it can feel really isolating. But there is support if you need it.

Raising a #zeroproof glass to 700 days no booze on this National Sober Day. Here’s to all the women who are taking time to rethink their relationship with alcohol; all the women who are searching for better, healthier choices to cope and relax; all the women who are coming to understand what being fully present for themselves and their loved ones mean; and all the women who have decided their life is more than a snarky meme. With my daughter now 13, I have become much more aware of the images we are fed every day as women. In the year 2021 with more opportunities at our feet than ever, we are still primarily digesting images and conversations focused on how we look and how we need a drink. I’m here to tell you:

- You don’t need alcohol to cope.
- You don’t have to have a major problem to not drink.
- Not drinking alcohol is waaaay more fun to me than drinking. The conversations are incredible, the memories are vivid, the sleep is superb, and there’s no consequences of hangovers, stumbles, saying something you regret, low productivity, crippling anxiety, feeling stuck or worse.
- You become a much better version of yourself when you step back from routine alcohol use.
- Every alcoholic drink you love👉there’s a nonalcoholic version that is just as good, or better.

As someone who loved mixing a great cocktail and still has fond memories of tequila nights, I’m as surprised as anyone to learn the grass isn’t just greener on the other side, it’s a secret garden. I wish I knew these things when I was younger and didn’t just fall hook, line and sinker for the cultural norm that to have fun you have to drink - but c’est la vie;) and Praise God for this path. Cheers to all of you who have encouraged me along the way. It’s been one hell of a journey. 2 years I’m coming for ya.💪🙌This Bud’s for you @budweiserzero 😉#nationalsoberday #alcoholfree #soberlife

Change, taking control and pulling myself out of my comfort zone has always been a positive move for me.

It’s now been over six months since I quit alcohol and changed my workout routine.

Honestly I feel mentally happier, more chilled and stronger for it.

Big Love ❤️
