Cheers to ONE year of This & Yap!

Over the past year, we’ve produced three experiences under one programming series, bringing together creatives from different places and spaces because they believed in a concept before there was anything tangible to point to.

After nearly two years of not producing anything, I took a chance on a vision I couldn’t fully explain yet. There was no proof of concept, no blueprint, and no guarantee that anyone would understand what I was trying to create. But somehow, people did.

I knew I loved hosting. I knew I was good at building relationships and connecting people. What I didn’t realize was that those strengths could live together in one space. This & Yap became the intersection of everything I love: creating experiences, bringing people together, and turning conversations into community.

To every collaborator, attendee, creative partner, friend, and supporter, thank you for believing in this before it became what it is today.

If there’s one thing this journey has taught me, it’s to stay open to collaboration, bet on yourself, and trust the ideas placed on your heart, even when the full picture isn’t clear yet.

You never know the impact one conversation, one connection, or one leap of faith can make.

More to come ✨

To all of our brilliant actors. From doing voice overs in @zulmanzi basement in the pandemic in Springfield, MA, to the recording studio in Brooklyn. The Matumbilas wouldn’t exist without our amazing talent whose voices brought the characters to prominence. This is a moment for all of us to cherish. Asante sana for everything and sticking by us through our journey!!

2025 was centered around conversation (planting seeds), 2026 looks more like a community in motion (growing roots)

What started as a creative thought grew into something far bigger than dialogue; people showing up, connecting, and building together IRL.

Leading with intention creates momentum. Community creates longevity. When people feel connected to the vision, they don’t just attend, they invest and help it grow.

Our 2026 vision board is rooted in community-led experiences and intentional moments that bring people together offline. Grateful for everyone who helped plant the seeds.

More to come. Website launching soon so you don’t miss what’s next 🤭

Rediscovering creativity isn’t always about doing more; it’s about living more. @goldboots_

Sometimes we put so much pressure on ourselves to create, produce, and perform that we forget that inspiration comes from experiencing life.

"Sometimes, you might just need to sit down for six months and let the story come to you." @richiepbm

Taking intentional time to rest, heal, and recharge can give you the space you need for your next idea, chapter, or direction to naturally show up.

Feelings matter, especially in creativity. @thenatebrookshow

What you feel shapes what you create. And when you create from a real place, people feel it too.
