Earlier this year, @thenewcharismission read the article of my art journey on Salt & Light, and asked if I would be open to donating a few paintings for their charity golf event. I didn’t have to think twice. First, because I’d asked God to show me where my paintings can be put to better use, so it was a no-brainer when this opportunity opened up. But more importantly, I’m familiar with the work TNCM does, and I fully support their cause. They have several arms but their main one is giving ex-cons second chances by rehabilitating them and helping them turn their lives around. I donated 25 pieces. I did not expect them to frame and display the pieces so beautifully. (Side note: don't use framers in JB even though it’s cheaper – the framer spoilt 3 paintings cos he didn’t know how to deal with pastel pieces and I had to redo the spoilt bits). TNCM invited me for the golf charity dinner. I’m not a mingler and I like being low profile, so I asked them to stick me in a corner. What I did not expect was to be seated at the VIP table together with the Minister for Law, Edwin Tong 😱 The first words he said to me were, “Do you play golf?” I said, “Err no.” Awkward silence. But later it transpired that he doesn’t golf either so I was in good company 😅 He seems very down-to-earth, no airs about him which I like. To be perfectly honest, I almost regretted going mainly because my neck and shoulder were giving me a lot of pain. But when the founder of TNCM, Pastor Don Wong shared stories of how lives were turned around, from gang members and drug addicts to staff who now minister to prisoners, it was so inspirational I was glad I went. I’ve met a few of them, they’re so warm and genuine, you would never have guessed their dark pasts. No one is beyond redemption in God’s kingdom. Eight of my paintings were sold last night, the others will be put up for auction at TNCM’s anniversary event later this year. So glad to be able to contribute to such a worthy cause ❤️ #godisgood #amazinggrace #pastelart #pastelanimals #pasteldrawing #softpastel #softpastelartwork #artforcharity #coloredpencilart #artforgoodsg
