DESIGN NOTES: THE LATTICE LACE.

The initial spark came from an old colonial rattan chair. I wanted to see if we could translate that woven furniture architecture into wearable tailoring.

We started with a custom lilac mesh base to hold the structure. Across it, we hand-stitched knitting yarns in a precise lattice weave.

For the tactile finish, we used mohair yarn spun with fine metallic lurex threads. Up close it appears soft and brushed, but the metallic threads catch the light unexpectedly as you move.

Am I safe to say this turned into a piece of art?

This Napoleon style jacket has been crafted from a silk brocade, with an intricate tapestry of animals and botanical forms hand woven through it. Almost like something you’d hang rather than wear.

The gold anthurium-shaped buttons act as little sculptural details that pull everything together.
