I WAITED TO SAY THIS…

I waited to make this post about my brother Chaz.

I’ve never been someone who feels the need to immediately post when someone passes. When tragedy happens, there’s often an abundance of posts, pictures, memories, and messages from people sharing their love.

And there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

For me, I just didn’t want to rush to put something out simply because everyone else was.

I didn’t want my words to get lost in the flood.

I wanted to take some time. I wanted to process it. I wanted to think about what Chaz meant to me and find the right words, not just make a post.

Because Chaz deserves more than just a post.

This collage is just a few of the memories with some of our beloved KMOJ staff that we’ve shared throughout the years. Looking through these pictures brought back so many laughs, conversations, good times, and moments that I’ll always treasure.

Charles “Chaz” “Millionaire” Washington was my brother, my friend, my KMOJ family, and someone I was blessed to share the airwaves with.

He was more than a voice on the radio.

He was a personality.
A professional.
A mentor.
A storyteller.
A friend.
A brother.

And most of all, he was genuine.

I’ll always remember the laughs, the conversations, the crazy moments, the time spent on and off the air, and that feeling of knowing you were surrounded by your people.

Those are the memories that stay with you.

I’m grateful I got to know you. I’m grateful I got to work alongside you. And I’m grateful that I can call you my brother.

I wish I could hear your voice one more time.

Have one more conversation.

Share one more laugh.

But I know this much…

A voice like yours doesn’t simply disappear.

It lives in the people you touched.

It lives in the stories we’ll continue to tell.

It lives in the laughter you left behind.

And it lives every time somebody remembers the man behind the microphone.

Your voice may be silent, my brother, but your legacy will forever be heard.

Rest peacefully, Chaz.

Thank you for the friendship.
Thank you for the laughter.
Thank you for the memories.
Thank you for the brotherhood.

Gone from our sight, never from our hearts.

RECAP VIDEO 🎥👇🏾

17 YEARS OF VIBES!!! 🚢🔥

The 17th Annual KMOJ Boat Cruise was definitely one for the books! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to capture a lot of footage because your boy was TOO busy enjoying the moment and turning up with everybody 😆😂

But trust me when I say this… over 500 people spread across ALL 3 FLOORS came ready to celebrate, dance, vibe, and create unforgettable memories together. The energy from top to bottom was absolutely INSANE all night long!

Huge shoutout to all of the performers, DJs, staff, security, volunteers, sponsors, and everyone behind the scenes who helped make this event such a success. Y’all truly helped create an unforgettable experience for the city.

Most importantly, we want to send a HUGE THANK YOU to every single person who came out and celebrated with us at the 17th Annual Cruise Down the St. Croix. Your love, support, loyalty, and presence continue to mean everything to us.

This year was extra special because not only did we celebrate another amazing year on the water together, but we also celebrated a MAJOR milestone — 50 YEARS of serving our community here at KMOJ. ❤️🖤💚

For five decades, KMOJ has remained committed to uplifting voices, creating opportunities, informing, inspiring, and standing beside the Minneapolis community. Because of YOU, the journey continues.

As we look ahead to the next 50 years, we are excited about building our FOREVER home right here in the community we love so deeply.

If you would like to contribute and support this incredible vision, please visit:
www.kmojfm.com

Thank you again for rocking with us, believing in us, and allowing us to serve the community throughout the years.

The vibes were unmatched.
The love was real.
The legacy continues.

50 years down… and we’re just getting started. 🚀✨
