We love seeing our books in soulful, Black homes. This vignette in @theninahbeeā€™s home is so lovely with a mini tree, a vintage lamp that belonged to her husbandā€™s grandmother and a reindeer sculpture atop REMIX: Decorating with Culture, Objects and Soul. A meaningful mix of objects that create a soulful vibe. ā£ Get your copy of REMIX at the link in our profile.

Social media can be a terrible place. Some of us are publicly sharing our lives and with that comes the good and the bad. People can make negative or hateful comments, especially when they donā€™t agree with you. And they feel entitled to do so because you have a public profile. But social media can also be an incredible place to find people who you otherwise wouldnā€™t know. I have made some incredible connections and friendships from this platform that are going on 10 years or more. Iā€™ve watched IG friendā€™s kids grow up. Iā€™ve seen friends get married, grow their family, get divorcedā€¦ Iā€™ve been there for them during moments of loss. And so many of my IG friends have been there for me during the most important and darkest times of my life. They were there when I had two miscarriages, they witnessed me becoming a mother, they were supportive when my marriage fell apart, they grieved with me when I lost my dad. And man do they adore Phoebe. The love I have received is overwhelming and I hope that in some way I have reciprocated that. I think the key to navigating social media in a healthy and positive way is to find real connections with people you have things in common with. Reach out to see who reaches back out to you. In a time when social media can be incredibly divisive and hateful, this place full of squares can also be a place to connect and grow friendships with wonderful people. Speaking of wonderful people, my girl @theninahbee made this beautiful piece and sent one to me. She was sending out Valentineā€™s and I jokingly said I would be happy to send her my address and here we areā€¦ me with this beautiful canvas. Thank you Ninah, I adore it and I adore you! . . . . . . . . . . . #thelifeofcandp #friendship #socialmediafriends #igfriends #galentine #hearts
