The Nomadic Canadians

In the upcoming issue of Eats & Beats, we continue to follow our friends @thenomadiccanadians on their global journey…with a stop in Fuengirola, Spain. Fuengirola is a beautiful coastal town located in the province of Malaga, in the southern region of Andalusia, Spain. It is situated on the Costa del Sol, known for its stunning beaches and sunny Mediterranean climate. Fuengirola offers a perfect blend of traditional Spanish charm and modern amenities.

During their stay, they repeatedly visited the restaurant Cerveceria La Gamba.

In this fantastic Unpretentious spot, they discovered dishes like; Boquerones Fritos, Gambas Pil Pil, Sopa de Marisco, Paella de Marisco and more.

In our January ‘Hidden Cuisines of the World Part 1’ issue, dedicated to the late great Anthony Bourdain, we discover the lesser known culture and cuisines of 7 different countries including…Albania. Our guest contributors, @thenomadiccanadians , take us along on their own personal journey to Berat, Albania and introduce us to the national dish called Tavë Kosi: a lamb casserole with yogurt and eggs. Tavë, meaning casserole, and Kos, meaning yogurt. This is definitely a must read feature!

Geez Louise! ❄️ ⛄️ 🎄

I’ve been dreaming of strolling through this winter wonderland for about a decade now, and, turns out, I happened to visit at the perfect time.

I was there with @bpurington in mid-November, and the parking lot at Lake Louise was not anywhere near full. In fact, we only saw a few dozen people during a two-hour walk by the lake. 🙌😁

It’s what you call the “secret season” in Banff and Lake Louise. Show up from November through June (excluding the Christmas period, of course), and you will miss the crowds.

On the other hand, a visit from July to September is the most popular time to go. During that time, there are about 2 million visitors; that’s about half of the visitation Banff National Park receives annually.

Fun fact: Banff has one of the longest ski seasons in North America. 🏂⛷️

You can hit the slopes from October/November into May! 🎿🚠
