Last year, my transmission in my car died out. I had no money at all and my means of making money was driving for uber. It would cost me $4,500 to get it fixed and I had none of that. Because I had no way to fix my car, it was going to be repossessed. I was so worried, man I was panicking every day, looking for jobs, looking for loans. It was a nightmare. I remember calling the bank and telling them to come take my car away and the guy on the phone told me the company encourages you to try to get the car fixed because they don’t want to take the car. He told me keep trying, keep pushing, and that I’ll figure it out.

They took my car two days later.

I was evicted 6 months later for not paying rent.

Because my first name is Kristen, they mislabeled me as a woman and I beat the case LIKE A FUCKING G.

Thank you, Nelda (my mom)

What im trying to say is, stop panicking bro.

Remember that situation you were in a couple years back? Guess who got through it, YOU. Remember when your heart was broken, guess who picked it back up and got over it. YOUUU. REMEMBER WHEN IT WAS ALL FUCKED UP AND YOU WORRIED AND WAS ANXIOUS?! WHO PERSEVERED HUH?! DONT MAKE ME SAY THAT SHIT!!!

You got this. Keep pushing. It all works itself out, man I promise.

Whenever I work with @thenormanbros , I already know we are making magic. They truly are the best. Look how crispy this commercial is bro, woah.

One time I had this callback for a Disney cruise ship commercial. I was so damn excited man in my mind I’m like yo I’m bout to book my first Disney gig. The director, although he was a nice guy? kept telling me to restart and do the scene more cinematically. I had never heard of an actor acting cinematically ever in my life. I just heard of acting. All I had to do was open a book and watch the Disney magic float out of the book like Peter Pan or something idk. But every time I opened the book id do something like this 🙂😳😲🥹😮😭😇 and the director wanted something completely different. I changed my looks every time. In my mind I’m like bro what does act cinematically mean. I think I did like 8 takes and every single last time he just kept repeating himself “ACT CINEMATICALLY.” It sucked man because I’ve had weird callbacks that lead to bookings but this felt like I just didn’t know how to act. I went home that day, defeated and turned on The Batman with my best friend @robertpattisonl and realized a couple things: first what I gathered from what the director was asking for was that he wanted me to do this: 😐😐🙂🙂🥲🙂. What is that. Second, when you’re trying to figure out things in life, it’s totally fine to ask. If someone wants something from you and you’re trying your FUCKING HARDEST to give them what they want, ask them to say it differently, or you give them another word or phrase back just to be on the same page. Sometimes, many times for me, I’ll try to act like I know what the hell you’re saying and would rather risk looking dumb in the future rather than asking for clarity. Don’t be me. Don’t let other people tell you what to do and to expect you to listen like a robot. Ask questions, make mistakes, show that you want to do the thing right. Whether it be on stage or in an office or whatever. Take your time. Act cinematically.

Shoutouts to @thenormanbros for their creative minds and reaching out. Shoutouts to the crew for bringing visions to life. Big ups to @c.rikkigreen for being an excellent acting partner.

Also they need to make headrests and pillows for people with my hair texture cuz what the f is my hair doing.

To paraphrase Werner Herzog, filmmaking is an athletic event, not an intellectual one. And if ever a shoot was a testament to the truth of Werner’s words, the week we spent with an amazing crew at Kalahari Resorts in Round Rock, Texas was it. Amidst the flashing lights, roaring falls, and expansive grounds of Kalahari, our backs may have broken, our hands may have blistered, and our muscles may have burned, but our spirits never broke.

To paraphrase Noah Wasserman, the intrepid star of this first spot in the campaign and the King of Kalahari, there are no strangers in life, there are only friends we haven’t met yet. During this challenging and rewarding week, we like to think we made a lot of new friends. There’s no team we’d rather be a part of.

Thanks especially to the teams at Kalahari Resorts and Morning Walk.

Crew List in First comment! Please tag anyone we missed. We don’t have everyone’s handles.

I had an opportunity to work with @thenormanbros on a fun project over the summer. Quick story:
One summer, in high school, I had ran my minutes up on my cell phone. There was a time when people didn’t have unlimited minutes, but this wasn’t the time. I had like 250 talking minutes on my AT&T cell and my high school gf and I went over by like a couple thousand minutes. My dad refused to get the unlimited minutes for me. At this time, that shit was mad expensive. My dad was pissed because my bill was about $300. That was a lot in 2006? Bro idk how inflation works. Anyway, I got my first job from this because my dad told me I had to pay off my phone bill. Okokok fast forward I’m working at a doctor’s office at age 15, full time, no cell phone, and I literally have no clue how much money I was making. As a matter of fact, I think I was just flat out giving my dad my paychecks without looking at the amount. Stupid, I know. But the moral to the story is: sometimes you gotta bust your ass to pay off the bills…sometimes busting your ass means you get nothing in return. But this opportunity to work with @kippnorman and @k.c.norman was a result of a lot of ass busting and silly decisions that led me to that point. I appreciate the crew, @c.rikkigreen for being an amazing scene partner, and everyone involved in making little visions big realities.
