Alaska has me in a chokehold & I fear I’ve developed a geographically inconvenient attachment.

Walking along Neskowin Beach feels like exploring a landscape with secrets. 🌊⏳

Just below this cliff lies the famous 2,000-year-old Ghost Forest—the ancient sitka spruce stumps that are only revealed when the tide drops low enough. Looking up at these living trees thriving on the rock above, right next to the remnants of a forest from centuries past, is such a wild contrast. It makes you realize just how alive, shifting, and deeply historic this stretch of the Oregon coastline really is. 🌲✨

Long before the footprints fade and the tide smooths the sand, this #shoreline has been shaping stories for centuries.

At #CannonBeach, that story is anchored by #HaystackRock formed millions of years ago by ancient lava flows, now standing 235 feet above the #Pacific as a silent witness to time. The surrounding #coastline was once home to Native peoples who lived with and respected the rhythm of the ocean, long before explorers from the Lewis and Clark Expedition reached these shores in the early 1800s.

Tonight’s sunset feels like a pause in that long timeline, a moment where fire meets water, and the sky mirrors the past in colors that won’t stay long.

Same waves. Same rock. Different moment.

While out adventuring recently I stopped by this valley filled with larch trees that were showing off their golden fall colors and I was lucky enough to catch an amazing sunset while I was there. The sun really made them glow just before it dipped below the horizon. Have a great day everyone!

Some intimate fall color scenes - it might be hard to tell in the photo, but the mountain stream looks like chocolate milk in-person from the sediment runoff.

I headed to Mt. Rainier a couple days ago. Before I left home I checked the webcam and conditions looked nice, but by the time I got there clouds had engulfed the mountain and I couldn't see it. I started hiking up the trail as rain began to fall and my hopes of seeing the mountain and getting a colorful sunset were diminishing. After awhile the rain stopped and the clouds started to break up some. As sunset neared this big lenticular cloud formed and the bottom of the mountain began to appear and as the evening went on the lenticular slowly lifted and revealed more mountain and I was able to capture this scene. I hope you all enjoy this one and have a great day!
