On my way back with 4 full bags I had a funny encounter. Someone called me over and asked if I work for the government probably thinking I get paid for cleaning the beach. I replied „No, that is just my private thing. I do it for free.“ a bit puzzled he responded „Ah, so it’s Free Service for Seychelles.“ Just the way he simply put it made me laugh.

Busy collecting bottlecaps until @islandsprincess arrives to have another cleaning & sorting session. After all caps without an inside layer can be shredded and turned into beautiful new products like bracelets, combs, keyrings, flower pots etc. by @precious.plastic_seytreasure

My catch of the day an ☂️ fish fits the weather situation these days. Still loving it out there and getting rained on feels like my reward after this sweaty endeavor. 4 full bags and I didn’t even make it until the end of the beach today. Way too many plastic bottles. Most unfortunately can’t be recycled anymore due to the exposure to sea & sun but I saved the bottlecaps for @precious.plastic_seytreasure They will transform them into beautiful new products like bracelets, keyrings, combs and many more.

In case xou have been wondering. I’m still doing the thing but posting rarely these days. Thank You so much Angi for coming along. My arms would have not been enough. After quite a stretch of rough weather pushing in the rubbish there was a lot a lot to pick up. As usual the amount of plastic bottles was shocking. As in the South-East monsoon the beach gets some rest from the let’s call them on site trashers but faces more of stuff rolling in from the outside. The amount of plastic bottles is always significant.

🎉 We are delighted to announce that the Commonwealth Clean Oceans Plastics Campaign has reached its target: one million pieces of plastic removed from Commonwealth waters, just two days before the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games begin.

Since the launch at CHOGM in Samoa 2024, the campaign has travelled across the Commonwealth alongside The King's Baton Relay, in partnership with Commonwealth Sport, bringing together more than 50 partner organisations and over 15,000 volunteers across 74 nations and territories, all building toward this moment ahead of Glasgow 2026. 🌍

This achievement belongs to every organisation, community and volunteer who gave their time to make it possible. We are immensely proud of what has been achieved, and deeply grateful to everyone who played a part in this remarkable collective effort. 🙏

This World Ocean Day, the theme “Reimagine: Beyond the World We Know, A New Relationship with Our Ocean” challenges us to see the ocean differently. 🌊

Beyond its beauty, the ocean is a source of life, a regulator of our climate, and a vital part of our future. Reimagining our relationship with the ocean means moving from simply enjoying it to understanding, respecting, and protecting it. 🐠🪸

Here in Seychelles, the ocean is woven into our way of life. It shapes our culture, supports our communities, and inspires the unforgettable experiences we share with visitors from around the world. 🌎

Today, we celebrate our connection to the sea and reaffirm our commitment to preserving the blue heart of our islands for our future generations. 💙

Standing Together for a Cleaner Seychelles 🌊♻️

Hunt Deltel proudly supported the Seychelles Commonwealth King’s Baton Clean-Up at Beau Vallon! Our donated tent provided the perfect meeting point — from opening remarks and equipment distribution, to shade, refreshments and connecting with fellow ocean defenders.

It even encouraged curious beachgoers to jump in and join the clean-up on the day. A huge thank you to all partners and volunteers who continue to champion cleaner oceans and a brighter future for Seychelles. 💙
