The education system isn’t built for everyone.

For my daughter, getting through school has meant working twice as hard as most. But what I love most about her is that where there might be resistance, she meets it with a sense of pure joy and endless possibility.

She is one of the brightest lights in my entire life, and I am incredibly proud of her for finishing middle school.

Next up is high school, where she will be studying what she loves, which is film. She is an avid movie watcher and always comes up with the line before the actor even says it. We might just have a budding screenwriter on our hands too!

I share this not only as a proud celebration of her achievements, but because as a speaker, it is a vital reminder.

Your audience is filled with people who just learn differently.

Embracing different learners and different thinkers is a gorgeous thing.

That’s what makes this world stronger, and that is what makes possibility happen.

The next time you get to deliver a message, remember that you have an opportunity to reach every single person in that room. It just takes choosing to put in a little bit more time, love, and effort. When you do, you make a much greater impact, and everyone in the room appreciates it.

Congratulations to my graduate. Here is to making an impact for all thinkers.

💥 What if both teachers and children could just say “Let’s pause the system” when things do not work for children in the classroom and just do something beyond the system to help children regulate? I love this simple educational innovation coming from one and only Perry Knoppert @lord_knop of @theoctopusmovement.

My head is spinning because when you pause the system, you can invite a therapy dog, or you can have children play - the sky is the limit.

💥 Perry is a nonlinear thinker and legendary founder of the @theoctopusmovement.

Perry Knoppert, founder of The Octopus Movement, embodies resilience and the power of non-linear thinking to solve complex global challenges. His journey from homelessness to leading a global movement reflects a deep belief in the potential of unconventional minds. The Octopus Movement, which he envisions as a "Global Human Mycelium of Nonlinear Thinkers," connects diverse individuals whose thinking transcends traditional boundaries, much like the interconnectivity of mycelium in nature. By turning adversity into opportunity, Perry has created a platform that fosters creativity, connection, and innovative solutions for a better world.

Under Perry’s leadership, The Octopus Movement has expanded its influence through initiatives like the Global Black Box, a cutting-edge think tank where non-linear thinkers tackle the unsolvable for startups, global organizations like NASA, and educational institutions. This global network merges unique talents and perspectives to create solutions for some of the world's most pressing problems. Perry's life and work demonstrate that embracing non-linear thinking can lead to profound change, both on a personal level and in shaping a sustainable global future.

🔥 Zero to Umm.. Episode Alert: Perry Knoppert of The Octopus Movement

🔗 Episode ➡️ Stack Link in Bio

Can you think of someone in your life that fundamentally changed the way you approach and understand life? 🤯 🐙

If you don't know Perry Knoppert ( @perrykmultipotentialite) is one of those people.

Perry Knoppert, affectionately known as Dr. Octopus, is the visionary founder of The Octopus Movement ( @theoctopusmovement) —a global community of nonlinear thinkers and innovators. Born in The Hague, Netherlands, in 1975, Perry’s journey has been shaped by embracing unconventional ideas and turning complexity into possibility.

The Octopus Movement, founded in 2021 in Amsterdam, has grown rapidly and now boasts members in over 95 countries. This non-profit organization aims to drive acceptance and awareness of atypical thinkers’ abilities and embed diverse experiences and expertise within institutions tackling today’s trickiest challenges.

Perry’s approach blends creativity, vulnerability, and human connection. He embraces his ADHD and dyslexia, viewing them as assets rather than handicaps. This perspective is central to the Octopus Movement, which celebrates neurodiversity and empowers out-of-the-box thinkers to unleash their unique talents.

The movement’s philosophy is reflected in its mascot, the octopus, chosen for its three hearts, nine brains, eight arms, ability to change color and shape, and unique DNA. These characteristics symbolize the adaptability, intelligence, and multifaceted nature of nonlinear thinkers.

Through The Octopus Movement, Perry has created a space where diverse minds unite to challenge norms, ignite innovation, and shape a better future. His work demonstrates the power of embracing individuality to transform the world, inspiring others to think differently and solve seemingly unsolvable problems.
