Black Future! 🚀✨ @theofficialsouse

———

I had the opportunity to provide creative direction for SOUSE’s latest album, Oklahoma Is Black, using footage from my personal collection documenting visits to historic Black towns across Oklahoma, capturing moments of Black joy, community, and culture.

With Dr. VIEW (@drview1) writing the manifesto, Leroy Kick providing photography, DJs (@fadesbyju , @drview1 , and @djaliveonarrival ) contributing 39 curated mashups, and @angiefromtx introducing the new signature SOUSE merch, we created a visual expression of Oklahoma’s culture in motion.

Inspired by @tlynnfaz 2019 exhibition Oklahoma Is Black, this project is an act of remembrance, honoring the Black communities, music, and stories that have always shaped Oklahoma.

A portion of every album sale supports the historic Black towns of Tullahassee, Taft, and Rentiesville.

Oklahoma Is Black is a living archive.
