Layers of permanent red and black color

Just a reminder that transformations like this are possible, but several factors have to align.

In this case, the previous red had already been lifted and faded over time before black was applied on top, which had also softened and faded. She also has a finer hair texture, which can sometimes allow the hair to lift more easily.

Her natural hair lifted beautifully through the mids and ends to a softer orange stage, giving us a great foundation to work from.

Every head of hair responds differently based on genetics, previous color history, overall hair health, density, texture, and what the hair is willing to release while still maintaining integrity. Not all hair will lift or hold color the same — and that’s okay.

Ending 2025 with a full heart.
This year cracked me open in the ways that matter. I laughed until my body loosened, wandered beyond what was familiar, cried the kind of tears that tell the truth, and learned to turn toward the shadows instead of bracing against them. What I met there didn’t break me it softened me.

I traveled more than I ever have, not just across places but across versions of myself. I found soul-aligned friendships, deepened the ones who’ve stayed, and expanded in ways I can feel in my breath, my body, my sense of being home within myself.

I made life-changing decisions closed my salon, trusted the quiet nudge to leap, and stepped into a new chapter alongside one of my dearest friends. I loved deep and wide. I tended to old wounds with patience. I grew into my own rhythm. I found a steadier, quieter peace not because life got easier, but because I learned how to meet it.

Grateful for every lesson, every mile, every moment that shaped me. Ready for what’s next ✌🏽🤍

Honestly, I never shared this feature when it first came out because... imposter syndrome is real 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sometimes the best stories are the ones we’re afraid to tell, and well, neurodivergent brain gonna neurodivergent brain 🧠✨

But here’s the thing—our stories matter. The messy middle parts, the journey from OKC Marquee to RAQ Out Nails, all of it.

Seeing other women share their journeys boldly inspired me to do the same. We need to see each other’s real stories—the wins AND the struggles with putting ourselves out there.

This piece captures so much of my journey and how we went from “just trying something” to creating confidence one set at a time.

Still feels surreal to see my story in print, but I’m learning to celebrate the wins (even the old ones 😅).
