OPENING NIGHT was GREAT! 🎭

Months of work, countless rehearsals, and a whole lot of heart brought us here.

Shells came to life. And behind every moment onstage is this incredible group of artists who made it possible.

Here’s to the stories we tell, the people we tell them with, and the nights we’ll never forget.

Shells now playing @greenwaycourttheatre

We sat down with @theoldman_bones. The actor behind “Charles” to talk about the character, the story, and what it takes to bring something painful to life onstage.
Some wounds heal.
Some haunt you.
Some get their own character arc.
Come meet “Charles” on “SHELLS”.
First preview tonight! 🎭

Tomorrow is the first preview for Shells by @amyamnesia. I’m absolutely honored to be playing the lead in this beautiful beast of a @rogue_artists show and I’m so so excited for everyone to see what we’ve been cooking up.
(I’m also a liiiiitle bit terrified but don’t tell anyone ok?)
Amy’s play is haunting, timely, heartbreaking, darkly funny and surreal. It’s about the devastation of gun violence and inspired by true events… AND there are puppets!
Come check it out Sept 19- October 11. Tickets and more information can be found at the link in my bio (dm if you need a discount code).

Indie Shakes is proud to honor #BlackTheatreDay! Swipe as we highlight the incredible Black storytelling and talent that graced our stages this past year, from the world premiere of “The Aaron Play” written by Zachary Bones (@theoldman_bones) to our summer season in Griffith Park 🖤✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

Founded by Dr. Monica White Ndounou, @thecraftinstitute launched Black Theatre Day in 2021 to honor the 200th anniversary of The African Grove Theatre, home to the African Company — the first Black theatre company in the United States.

First, a throwback to Indie Shakes’ 2022 premiere of the workshop production of “White People Do Not Know How to Behave at Entertainments Designed for Ladies & Gentlemen of Colour”. Devised by our Black ensemble members, this new play development uplifted the too often erased African Company and explored what it means to be a Black American performer.

Black Theatre Day is a call to action to celebrate, support, and increase visibility of 21st century Black theatres in their ongoing efforts to build sustainable, institutional wealth. Join us in uplifting and centering the work of these Black founded and led local theatre companies and organizations:
