Mx Capital 2026 Who Am I?

This being my third year at Mx Capital Finals, I knew I had to bring out the big guns. I’ve always loved the pageantry of a traditional wedding- all the superstitions, quite honestly heinous, origins and reasonings for them. White is traditionally worn to represent the purity of bride, the garter belt (and subsequent post nuptial removal) representing her innocence. On paper, marriage is a transferral of ownership of a woman- from her father to her husband. The history of institutionalised patriarchy is enabled by the protections a husband receives when going down the aisle and yet women are seen as the “gold digger”s.

I’ve always seen Maria as a character and figure of our scene to be a disrupter. Someone who knows all the rules, what they accomplish, and therefore how to break them as-well as when and which ones to break to push the boundaries of what’s “acceptable” behaviour. That’s who I am as a drag performer, and that’s who I’ll be as MX CAPITAL 2026 😭

I knew that (being in a gown for my first number) I’d have plenty of energy to dance and move to give this number my all and I really did- could not be more proud of this performance and my whole package
