💿 “Linda’s Head” by Helen 💿

Never thought I’d see this happen but HELEN IS BACK!!! I’m a huge fan of Liz Harris and have enjoyed every project she’s done. While Grouper is my favorite, Helen is a close second. It’s essentially her doing shoegaze but with her iconic heavenly vocals. The band released 1 amazing record back in 2015 then virtually disappeared afterwards. 11 years later, they’re back with new material and I couldn’t be more grateful! 🥲

Helen is an American dream pop and shoegaze trio based out of Portland, Oregaon.
The band is best known for featuring ambient artist Liz Harris (who records under the name 'Grouper') alongside multi-instrumentalists Scott Simmons and Jed Bindeman.
Unlike Harris' solo work as Grouper - typically defined by quiet, minimalist, acoustic-ambient tape loops - Helen leans into heavy distortion, driving basslines, fuzzy guitars and catchy uptempo hooks while keeping vocals low in the mix and under a blanket of reverb.
Pictured here is their debut album - 'The Original Faces' released in 2015 and 'Linda's Head' - released a few weeks ago, 11 years on from the debut

Perfect Midnight Radio 10.26
(AppleMusic & Spotify Links in Bio/ Swipe for Tracklist)

We are officially in autumn months. Granted, most places still feel like summer because we’re all doomed. Thankfully, there are plenty of talented artists to help ease the discomfort of sweating it up in October.

Normally, I highlight some favorites, but this month I’ll just let all of the excellence speak for itself. I’ll put out the highlight reel later this weekend for the visual learners.

In the bio, you will find links to Apple Music & Spotify versions of October’s playlist. Please feel free to share and/or enjoy at your leisure. Take care of yourselves, your peace, and your community. Thank you for listening, sharing, and reaching out. The kindness is always appreciated.
