POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Hello, my name is Theodore (Teddy). I have long loved history, from the foundations of civilisation to our present day. And this year I have decided to share that love, starting with Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt.

In November of 1902, the governor of Mississippi invited President Theodore Roosevelt on a bear hunting expedition. Although an avid hunter and outdoorsman, unlike the other members of the party he had failed to locate a bear. So some of the president’s assistants cornered and tied a black bear to a tree. The president was encouraged to down the bear, but viewing the act unsportsmanlike, he had the bear let go. The story spread across the country gaining in popularity inspiring political cartoons, and a candy shop owner. Morris Mitchom, whose wife made stuffed toy bears, obtained Roosevelt’s permission to name the toy bears after him. Thus, the “Teddy” Bear was born. Named for the hunting, veteran Rough Rider, president who wouldn’t shoot a bear tied to a tree.

"Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. Be of the same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion. Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men." Romans 12:10-17
My dear brothers and sisters, it has been the most beautiful summer with every single one of you. 💛😊The trials and tribulations that we have all faced has changed my heart for eternity, and I am so grateful that God put me with a family like you to endure everything together.
I have learned more from one summer of canvassing than anything else I've ever done. It has been the most character building yet the most rewarding work I've ever done too. I have learned the prominence and the desperate need in our world for putting others before ourselves. In a world that calls us to love ourselves more, God is calling us to love one another more instead.
I have learned to persevere in a way that I've never been able to do before, trusting that God WILL give me the strength like He has promised to carry through. No matter how difficult things have gotten, or how much I have wanted to selfishly give up, He has helped me to keep my eyes upon Jesus with a patience and diligence only He can give. I have learned through my own experiences the power of prayer, and that our words that are lifted up when we speak to our Heavenly Father, He LISTENS to and He does answer us.
I have also learned that Satan is as real as we are in this world, and he will use people and events to try and tear us away. We will hear and experience harsh things that truly hurt the heart, but God says despite what people say or do, bless and love them anyway because He continues to call us to LOVE them more.
