Put some polish on it and for the first time in two years of back and forth, enjoyed NYC. 💋🗽🪩
We never know how it’s going to feel until we’re in it.

Hoping on this train and going down memory lane…

2016 somehow is 10 years ago and at the same time it feels like just yesterday.

I kinda want to 🫣 when looking back at work I have done but hey I vote we bring back crown braids and milk maid braids. I still stand by those 😉 I also think seeing your work and seeing how much you have grown and learned helps the process.

I lived in San Francisco and had a damn good time.

I started getting my urge to want more and started traveling more to New York and working with @randco and started forming relationships that I still cherish today!

From full color to black and white and back again.

My girl said, “What you did in a week would take most people a year to process and take action on.”

I like to build things but I’m very much not afraid to take them down too. This, I believe, is due to not imbuing the present—or things—with the past. They were what they were, and they are what they are.

Love you all and this loco city. Call me when it thaws. ✌️❤️‍🔥🌊

Fear or desire? • I was recently considering the difference between the courage to go against the grain, and the fear of going with it. That is, how to tell exactly, when it’s the still, small voice that’s saying go (or stay), versus the calls of society, or nurture, or any other version of “should.”

I was reminded that rather than working from general definitions of broad concepts (in/extrovert, imposter syndrome, fear of commitment, anxiety …), we might consider what any or all of that means to us specifically and individually.

In other words, rather than asking if we should or shouldn’t—if what we want is right or wrong, if our motivations are well- or misplaced, if our pattern is problematic or constructive, if culture has it figured out or not—we might ask if we’re making choices from a place of fear, or desire.

NYC be like … 🎬🎐🧱🌒🛸🏳️
Typically I shoot once a month. This round, we’ll shoot seven times. I’ll teach some classes, launch a couple collabs (have you bought the fragrance yet?!), go live a few times, review final copy edits on the book, make some new hires, run until I can feel my limbs again, see my family, and then gtf back to the land of barefootedness and bikinis because “freedom was always in the business plan.”
