After introducing dozens of people to Banana Ball the last couple years, I understand that it's not for everybody. I never even would have thought it would have been for me. Yet here we are.

The 2026 season wrapped up with 13 games in 6 states for me.

I've been thinking a lot the last few months about the why.

Why is this something that I feel part of? Why is it something that feels important to build a community in? Why is there a greater draw to particular players, teams, or cast members than others?

To me, it's bigger than @dr_meadows defying physics with a backflip catch. it's more stamina and tenacity than @brethelton pitching a nine inning stretch. it's more heartwarming than a @bananasfosterinc reminder of the incredible foster families around the country. It's even more than a man in a yellow hat teaching the importance of fans first.

These are only a smidgen of the whys.

@bananaball is special.

I see it create friendships. Reprieve from the world. Reprieve from grief and heartache. An escape for just a moment in time from the chaos of the world. The privilege to experience somewhere new. A reminder that it's possible to be part of something bigger. To be a cheerleader unapologetically and sincerely.
