I’m turning 42 in a couple months… and honestly? Some days I don’t even know who I am anymore.

I was recently diagnosed with audDHD (autism and ADHD). Like, several weeks ago.

My whole life feels like a WHAT IF now…
What if the world was too loud & scary because I needed sensory help?

What if I had known I wasn’t broken and there was nothing wrong with me?

What if I could have loved myself all along?
What if I could have found “my people” sooner & not felt so alone?

I’ve never felt quite right in my skin. Even my name—Amanda—doesn’t feel like me. But what if it isn’t too late? What if we can choose who we become, moment by moment? This is me, choosing me. AJ. She’s been here all along. I just didn’t know it.

Who are you becoming? Will you say hello in the comments? 👋 I’d love to meet you… the real you.

Trust. ✨

My mantra right now- and a placeholder for creative ideas taking shape while I do the non-sexy work of building the foundation.

Life doesn’t always make for an aesthetic or entertaining reel. So I’m practicing trust in the process. There’s more coming.

This part is hard and I’m choosing self-care, pacing my energy, and honoring what it takes to learn, build, and begin again.

I’ll be back. Things are brewing. I will show up trying and messy. Mistakes will be made, and I’m learning in real time to be ok with that. This is the next chapter.

This is my response to @thephoenixsoul's 5-Minute Journal January 31 prompt: The Next Chapter.

💌Thank you, Amanda for creating a thoughtful, pressure-free way to show up for ourselves.

❤️‍🩹If you would like to share one thing you are trusting in right now, I am holding hold space for you here.

Fog and grey skies scream Autumn 🍂 so I had to paint this view.

Funny thing—I was so focused on not overworking the structures that I didn’t notice the skies had turned blue until they dried. I tried to add grey back in, but the painting wasn’t having it.

Maybe that’s the magic of art: it takes my grey skies (chaotic mind) and turns them blue (calm + present).

What’s one way you turn your grey skies blue? ✨

Meet Amanda @thephoenixsoul . She does brave things - like sell of her possessions and move with her little family to the Pacific Northwest , a soul calling, to dealing hope and the joy of creating with her myriad art offerings : a beautiful prompt filled art journal, colorful art journaling T-shirts (one quoted in my underpainting), and a Patron art mail membership, her passion for sharing ways to find to create in small moments is inspiring.

I want to thank Amanda for allowing me to paint her, as I begin to align with a mission of creating art that showcases the beauty and resilience of femininity, being brave and following your heart and dreams - and living, moving beyond surviving into thriving, in the moment.

Help! I’m getting a new laptop, so obviously the next question is, what new stickers will I get? 🤔 Who are your favorite artists with stickers? Please give me all the tags. 😄 Yes, I want to know if YOU make them!

This is my current stickered laptop. I wish I could pry off some of these. Ha! I’ve tagged the ones I can remember. Both moths are by @treetalker but it would only let me tag once. (Lots are mine.)
