Very sad about the passing of Jennifer Finch on July 18th. Not only for her L7 band's legendary music, but for the warmth, support and kindness that Jennifer gave to me ever since the day we first met in 2023.

I had signed up for her personal tour at The Punk Rock Museum in Las Vegas, where she noticed my Naomi t-shirt and mentioned that she knew and admired my sister back in the 1980s, as a fellow music photographer. During the tour, she suddenly stopped at some Black Flag photos, and turned to me, asking that I tell the crowd a little bit about Naomi. I was so surprised and touched at the same time, feeling that I was accepted by her as part of the punk rock community.

Ever since that day, Jennifer always treated me with genuine affection, enthusiasm and support. Taking time to ask how my Naomi projects were going, and encouraging me to continue with them. We seemed to run into each other about a dozen times, and I'll cherish those encounters forever. And L7's performance at the Fremont Country Club was one of my favorite punk shows ever!

I'll never forget beautiful, genuine Jennifer 😒 and hope that she and Naomi are having a good time together... rockin' out in punk rock heaven πŸ’œπŸ’œ

Today my heart feels incredibly heavy.
I was heartbroken to learn that our dear friend Jennifer has passed away after a courageous battle with brain cancer. It’s difficult to find the right words because she was truly one of a kind, kind, genuine, endlessly creative, and extraordinarily talented.
Jennifer was blessed with an incredible artistic vision, both as a photographer and as a musician. As the bassist for L7, she helped shape the sound and spirit of one of punk rock’s most influential bands, inspiring countless musicians, especially women, to pick up an instrument, start a band, and follow their own creative path. Whether she was behind the camera or on stage, everything she created reflected honesty, passion, originality, and heart.
Jennifer believed in LA’s Wasted Youth from our earliest days and photographed our band during moments that can never be recreated. Those photographs are far more than pictures, they are priceless pieces of our history and treasured memories that I will always cherish. Every time I look at them, I’ll be reminded of Jennifer’s remarkable talent, her artistic vision, and the passion she poured into preserving those moments forever.
Jennifer also photographed L7 and many other legendary punk rock bands, helping preserve the spirit and history of an entire generation of underground music. Her photographs were never just documentation, they captured the raw energy, emotion, and authenticity that defined the punk rock community and ensured those moments would live on for future generations.
