New work from my summer residency at @camargofoundation x @theracialimaginary is currently on view in Marseille as part of Unworlding, curated by Claudia Rankine and John Lucas. @claudiarankine ci svela la sua parola per mondi possibili (e non!) 🌎

📖 La poeta, saggista, drammaturga e artista multimediale americana di origine giamaicana - con la sua potente opera poetica - ha saputo portare alla luce in modo indimenticabile le micro e macro violenze che si nascondono tra le parole e nei comportamenti, il continuum di violenza che fa parte della storia e della quotidianità statunitense, i processi di costruzione della razza, dell’immaginario razzista, oltre alle implicazioni della whiteness e del privilegio di essere bianchi (Come raccontato in “Citizen. Una lirica americana” del 2017 e “Just us. Una conversazione americana” del 2022, entrambi usciti per @66thand2nd).

SALVAGE 2026
Rana Batrawi
Salvage explores the Palestinian family living room as a space of intimacy, memory, belonging, and loss.
Through rubble, fragments of furniture, walls, sound, and video, the work transforms this familiar domestic space into a fragmented and hostile landscape. What was once private and familiar becomes exposed to destruction, displacement, and collective memory.
The work reflects on the continuous Palestinian experience of losing and rebuilding places, and on the question of what can still be rescued from beneath the rubble not only objects and fragments, but memory, identity, safety, and the possibility of continuing to live.
For this installation,

📖 Ieri pomeriggio Claudia Rankine (@claudiarankine) - insieme alle direttrici artistiche @schlossbaueranna e @laraalessandraricci - ha inaugurato la mostra “White Noise” del giornalista e fotografo @markpetersonpixs allo Spazio 5b di Bellinzona, uno dei nostri loghi ed eventi pre-Festival 📷

🗣️ Scoprite cosa ci ha raccontato la poeta, scrittrice e founder del Racial Imaginary Institute (@theracialimaginary), che studia e analizza la whiteness come una struttura di potere normalizzata, spesso invisibile all’interno della società.

Rankine sarà presente al Teatro Sociale di Bellinzona domenica 20 settembre, alle ore 14:00, per l’evento “Violenza e privilegio dissimulati nella lingua. La denuncia poetica di Claudia Rankine”, in dialogo con Nicola Gardini (@gardini.n).

🧖 Honored to have spent a portion of the summer in heavy heat on the buses and on foot around Marseille and Cassis, getting my French tongue in good order and making new community while creating two pieces for Unworlding at La Friche Belle De Mai. I’m showing alongside so many artists that I love and respect, like: Beverley Buchanan, Mel Chin, Sonya Clark, Dread Scott, Shareef Sarhan, Michael Beitz, Rana Batrawi, Alvin Baltrop, Jen Bervin and Amer Nassar. Show is up until 11 October 🩷
