We had a blast popping up at @theradynamics gym in Tribeca to cheer on the runners from Alto’s awesome Run Club! Our balms are the perfect way to get some relief after a long run in the cold! 🥶🏃🏻‍♂️🏃🏽‍♀️ @altotribeca

Many fitness athletes don’t realize they don’t need to suffer in pain from a shoulder injury that has not responded to conservative treatment, yes, that includes peptides and PRP. Keyhole surgery, arthroscopy, allows clear identification of a labral or rotator cuff tear often not seen on MRI. THIS result is not atypical. Seek help via my website or www.miamishoulderinstitute.com #shoulderpain #shouldersurgery

So can you recover function after shoulder replacement? This patient shows how she has returned to lap pool swimming after having both shoulders replaced using a titanium resurfacing implant- 10 months apart. Oh, I also had fixed her shattered wrist after a bicycle fall. #recoveryispossible #shoulderpain #shoulderreplacement

Tomorrow’s #livesurgerytuesday is a small full thickness rotator cuff tear in patient from the Caribbean where we will use a @ziptekglobal anchor and possible #regenetenpatch all done via disposable @pristine_surgical shoulder arthroscope. Look for a start time update late morning. #shouldersurgery

On occasion, during my ~monthly trips to #nycbigapple , I walk past the 3 hospitals were I learned my craft. Catching up with colleagues, old friends and making new ones just adds to the experience. Do ANY of you like to walk down memory lane?

Week 5 post surgery brought:

1. 50% weight bearing and pushing forward!
2. Fab 5 crew - @katehedd @nnennajean @rklugman @jblnyc11231 - took me out to celebrate 4 weeks post surgery at @vinateria for my fave squid ink spaghetti.
3. And we surprised the new bride to be with a pre-bachelorette party
4. Of course we needed to assess the ring. @ahsouthwell, ya done good!
5. Completed my first walk with just Angus around the block…in the rain…to success!
6. My first piece for @nyamnews @nyamnewsfood of 2025 and post surgery all about my awesome village holding me down.
7. That vibe, that energy, @amg777 came thru with the boogaloo, some good NYC pizza 🍕 and salad 🥗…
8. …and left me some sweets from @angelinabakerynyc for my morning coffee.
9. After weeks, WEEKS, of trying to manage newly diagnosed diabetic Benzo Theodore’s blood glucose level with constant testing, insulin, and diet management while in recovery on one leg 🤦🏽‍♀️(note the bags under my eye)…
10. …we had a breakthrough and very close to a healthy management plan and not a moment too soon. I am so grateful.

I’m feeling stronger and raring in week six!

Week 2 post surgery brought…

1. My @thebearsofharlem home from excellent care 🙏🏽
2. The band is back together 🥹
3. Hacked a chair that has been collecting clothes for years as my transport
4. My niece Courtney came to ♥️ on me and help
5. Platting my hair so I don’t have to deal with it💆🏽‍♀️
6. And bathing Benzo, who needed it 🐶
7. Post op with my @nyulangoneortho surgeon who is a G!
8. My sister @harrisheatherd upgraded me to ergonomic stool with rollerblade wheels. Look out! 💨
9. Second PT at @theradynamics and first time without help but with the right crutches 🩼
10. Amongst all else she and my village are doing to support me, @rklugman helped to make this protein rich recovery stew of @diestelfamilyranch ground turkey, @goyafoods chickpeas, fortified with @porterroad bone broth, and egg, with perfect @rubirosa_nyc pasta and generous sprinkle of @burlapandbarrel sumac and Urfa chili. 🤌🏽

Shout out to my village of friends and neighbors who are checking in on me and, with the help of @apple shared note ( 🙇🏽‍♀️ Gen X evolution of Apple witness), are holding down dog walking duties until I am back on my feet.

Week 3, look out!

THE LARGEST MUSCLE MASS IN ONE MACHINE

The A300 Leg Press was designed with a higher foot plate to increase hip flexion and decrease knee flexion. This maximizes glute activation by causing them to work harder at the beginning of the movement. The decreased knee flexion reduces shearing forces, preserving the health of your knees. The separate foot plates allow you to train each leg independently, the way we function.
