🚨 Big Bama State is 2-1 heading into the bye week, and here are my impact players so far this season:

Jamarie Hostzclaw has been the spark in the run game with 169 rushing yards and 3 TDs, showing he can break one at any moment.

Mitchell Robinson Jr. has been flying around on defense with 21 total tackles, 1 PD, and 2 forced fumbles.

Andrew Abu-Akel has been automatic in the kicking game, going 9/9 on XPs and 6/6 on field goals with 27 points.

Randall King has brought playmaking ability to the WR room with 95 yards and a TD on just 6 catches.

Zion Crawford has been earning real PT as a true freshman DB with 10 tackles and 2 pass breakups.

What do yall think? Who would you add? 🐝🏈🔥

🏈 ALABAMA STATE STAT LEADERS SHOWED UP IN A BIG WAY AS THE HORNETS OPENED THE SEASON WITH A 30-17 WIN OVER SOUTHERN! 🐝🔥

The game didn’t start easy for Alabama State. Southern jumped out to an early lead and took a 17-13 advantage into halftime. But the Hornets completely flipped the script after the break, scoring 17 unanswered points in the second half to secure the victory at Legion Field.

⭐ STAT LEADERS

🎯 PASSING — Andrew Body
14/23 COMP/ATT • 192 YDS • 1 TD • 0 INT

🏃 RUSHING — Jamarie Hostzclaw
15 CAR • 49 YDS • 3.3 AVG • 1 TD

🔥 RECEIVING — Randall King
4 REC • 77 YDS • 1 TD

Body delivered an efficient performance, while Hostzclaw provided a crucial 15-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. King made his presence felt with a 61-yard reception that helped set up the score before later hauling in a 9-yard touchdown pass from Body.

The turning point came in the second half. Jareese Howard scored on a 3-yard touchdown run, and the Hornets followed with the Body-to-King touchdown connection to take control. Alabama State’s defense then came up with a huge interception by Greg Mangle early in the fourth quarter, helping the Hornets finish the job and complete the comeback.

FINAL: ALABAMA STATE 30, SOUTHERN 17 🐝

From trailing at halftime to dominating the second half, the Hornets opened the season with a statement victory.
